So I bought an old original tasco Japanese mfg 6x18x40 scope. Was mounted on a 1972 browning 30-06 that was fired very very little. Now I know next to nothing about a variable scope of that magnification. HELP!!!!

Once I get it mounted I should get a better grasp on how to use it.
And do that at whichever distance I'm shooting? Be it 100 300 400yds.Go to 100 yard range. Dial the parallax down to the lowest setting and get behind the rifle..move your head around and you'll see retcile move. Slowly dial the parallax, it's correct when the reticle doesn't move. Think of red dot and how when you move your head the dot remains on target.
