Neil Young Tuesday

Is he dead?

Off topic but...

I was very fortunate to attend a very small venue/intimate concert with Roger McGuinn a few years ago. He talked about Dylan and played/sang some of Dylan's works. The story of the times was very interesting.

I like some of his stuff, but with his new "wokeness" I won't go out of my way to listen to it.
Entertainer, entertain me, don't try to enlighten me with your beliefs or opinions, they ain't any more important than anyone elses. Free speech is for everyone, not just for you or the folks you side with.

I tell ya what..... Here lately ya can't throw a stick and not hit somebody that doesn't piss ya off. But, also here lately I try to ignore the crap and just listen to the tunes. Back in the 60's and 70's there was a band wagon for everybody to jump on just like there is now. Other than good beach music, I believe that the music played between 66 and 72 will always be near and dear to my heart.

You guys make me laugh. Crosby, Stills, and Nash never were 💩without Young. So tired of all that southern man don't need anything too. You guys read way too deep in to it. He had some good tunes which I can appreciate. I don't have to sleep with him or raise his kids to enjoy a song here and there. He made it further/better/richer than anyone here talking smack so.......

Any man who can play guitar while playing harmonica and sing at the same time has talent. I tip my hat to him for those skills alone. He's entitled to his politics same as I'm entitled to mine. I don't have to agree with his ideals to belive he's a talented musician.

Out of the blue
and into the black
They give you this,
but you pay for that
And once you're gone,
you can never come back
When you're out of the blue
and into the black.

And, I'm entitled to say a Southern man don't need him around anyhow.

Lots of crappy people have made if further than most of us. That’s kinda a crappy argument. But if you enjoy his act rock on. I’m sure some music I enjoy sucks in some way too.

Heck, I know my music is WAY different than most here, My favorite is Latin Jazz, early Motown, Puccini (opera) and early 20th century secular music (classical).

I am a classicaly trained pianist, a music history major but, listen to and appreciate most musical styles where there is music and not noise or merely drum beats/rythm involved.

Well said! The greatest disappontment in recent music trends for me is the lack of a decently-developed melody.

Good stuff
Would like the music better if someone with a real singing voice were singing it.
That's just... wrong. I wager that you would not.

ETA: I attended a concert at a church here in Charlotte years ago. A successful black opera singer put on a performance of gospel, spirituals and blues. She was nearly perfect, but I had a hard time sitting through it. All those songs lost their magic when she stripped them of their flaws.

The irony here is that I don't think Joe Rogan would want Neil Young cancelled.

I mean, you gotta' admit he had/ has the chops. Lately I've been thinking about how so many artists had their heyday and then drifted off into obscurity. Most people get better at their craft the longer they do it so why not musicians? Does the fame alienate them from the insight they had when they first started their journeys?

I was an honors all state singer.

Sang in show choir and madrigals.

Studied music theory, piano etc and had a vocal coach that trained me to sing opera.

My musical taste is all Over the chart.

A southern man don’t need him around…..anyhow.
All of you quoting the "southern man don't need him around" stuff, do you even know what that is all about? Or is it just a song lyric with no meaning to you? How many of you realize that Lynyrd Skynyrd and Neil Young never had a beef/quarrel with each other over either of these songs?

Please stop.

You'll have me thinking Carly Simon's "You're So Vain," wasn't about Mick Jagger.

Personally never cared for his music. Take your wokeness back to Canada please and thanks.

Yep, never liked him or Dylan. I can't support these woketards when they start spewing all their crap. Yes, you have the right to say what you want, but we have the right to continue to support or not.
I use to be a huge Lamb of God fan (I love heavy music) until Randy Blythe started his "common sense gun control" crap years ago. He is a "I support the 2nd but" type dude. Shotguns for hunting, yep, he's good. AR-15, nope, only good for killing humans and children. Yeah, F him. Haven't bought a single thing from them since. And I have bought vinyl packages they released, shirts, concert memorabilia, etc. Have drove all over to see them live, blah blah blah, lol. Never again.

Neil may piss into a fan's exhaust. He's an angry marxist that demands our liberty, with a nasally squeaky voice.
I do like a few of his songs, mostly with CSNY.
Isn't funny how many artists rage against the machine (Four Dead in Ohio), then they rage for the State to control more over our lives.

Knowing ahead of time Joe would fawn all over Neil, I'd listen if he could get Neil on his podcast.

Funny, I was cleaning out my hobby room the other day and came across an old calendar with Neil Young in it (February).
