OK, so here's what I'm thinking. CFF Privateering vessel, armed, selling pirate hunting trips.....

.......in the Straits of Hormuz and around the Horn of Africa.

She's supposed to be in great shape, wonderfully maintained, comes with spare parts, and is 213 ft of WWII pirate killing machine if we do it right.

And at only $250,000, I would think we can pool resources and be turning a profit in no time selling pirate hunting cruises......(or even contracting out to cargo and oil shipping companies).

Can’t we just run it up the Potomac and fire on the House and Senate? Do we have to go all the way to Africa?

A 1943 Navy Salvage ship would likely survive automatic rifle fire and even an RPG or two

It wouldn't survive a MK48 ADCAP Mod7.

Six diesel engines and an old steel hull.

Welder/diesel mechanic for hire here, you'll need one.

Probably wanna find a real machinist too, sure there's plenty of obsolete things.

I know squat about sailing... but I can cook! Like that galley; I could do something with that.

Also, I checked this out so we'd know:

(Not sure how'd they'd get it up the Old Fort grade...)

You cook. I can help and wash dishes.

Who's going to set up the reloading shack?

I'd ask for something a little more powerful than small-arms. How much can we pick up a 25mm cannon for? I'm sure that we have enough reloaders on the forum that we can feed it

Well, I never once boarded a boat during my time in Uncle Sam's Yacht Club, but I'm down for this!

I’ll be the witty yet slightly irritating yet still lovable ensign that goes on away teams and manages to always get himself out of dicey situations...

Or the ships chaplain...

I tell you what... That's an interesting business opportunity. Could be a floating restaurant/club/hotel, even a casino...
Talk about Adventure Cruises!

So, we're up to 15? volunteers as crew? Maybe pick up a few more as the thread progresses, round it out to 20?

80 berths, so that leaves 60 paid slots, some of whom could be sold tix as Working Adventure Crew Member. (There's an up charge for participating.)

We won't be cooking all day every day.

Also, Cook & Cook's helper get to-- I mean, are required to go ashore in every port in search of fresh provisions for the hardworkin' crew and paying customers.
Chef by trade and putting out meals for up to 500 people is not a problem.
Chef, obviously, has to stay aboard and do the paperwork, reconcile grocery manifests, plan menus, etc.

I like it Phil. But see, they are talking about making war.

And you are talking about making money.

Although, you do need one to do the other.

Yes, I realize we are on totally different pages...

Tell you what, you get bored with that retirement thing hit me up. We can make it a real thing...

I just got a membership to a gun club on the coast, and have been perusing real estate down there all evening. Not seeing anything I like. Might warrant a discussion.

Maybe different pages, but same book though! You gotta finance that war somehow! ;)

I know nothing about steel ship maintenance but I'm sure you will need someone scraping barnacles and repainting that thing constantly, so sign me up!

Sounds like we have the galley staffed and others are coming along nicely.[emoji41]

@SPM
I like the way you think...
But
If we were to patrol the straights of Hormuz and the African horn, notably high crime areas, looking for locals up to no good, wouldn’t that make us, in effect, the police? And that would make you hate yourself...

I will lead the dining team. Chef by trade and putting out meals for up to 500 people is not a problem. Only thing I require is a little time on the trigger once in awhile.

Is this you?
