Thinking about picking one up. I like the way it feels in my hand. I am familiar with the full size as I have owned and shot one. The extra mags and ammo offer from S&W has got me interested.

I have one. It is a great gun, nice shooter with lots of aftermarket support.

I don't own one yet, but I liked the one I shot. I plan to replace my carry gun with a 9c before too long.

0322151346a.jpg Had mine a few years now. Carried regularly. I was used to Glocks with connectors/springs, so I naturally installed an Apex FSS trigger. I shoot it better than any Glock I ever had.

My wife really likes the way my full size feels in her hand but would like something smaller to carry. [emoji41]

Great question. I plan to migrate from. Taurus 709/ G2 combo (depending on weather and clothes) to a Shield/ Compact combo. Thinking of waiting for Compact 2.0.

I had a FS, compact, shield, and FS 22. After shooting and carrying the shield a bit I found the compact pointless. If I want to carry somethings small, the shield is smaller. If I want higher capacity, I can carry the FS. There wasn't much difference in comfort or concealability with the compact vs FS for me. I find the shield very easy to shoot for its size. If you have large hands and the thin shield grip just doesn't work for you then I could see getting the compact.

With the recent rebates, I picked up a second shield, for my wife.

I had s Shield 9mm but found I could conceal the 40c just as easily. I had a 357c and loved it as well. The compact is a great gun for what it is. For me,I went with a 40c over the 9c, as I have drop in barrels for the 357 sig and a conversion barrel for the 9mm. Some folks say a factory 9mm barrel will work fine, others say the locking notches on the barrel won't match up as well, personally I have not had any issues with either way.

I had a 9c before the Shield (before the Shield even existed). Loved it, although it could get bulky, especially with the X-grip that I used for carrying full-size mags--but that could be a pro too (the ability to carry full-size mags).

I've since switched to the Shield and never looked back. The Shield conceals far better. I shoot the same with both, maybe a little better with the Shield because I can consume the Shield with my big ape hands and keep it controlled a little better (that's my technical guess anyway).

If you're looking for ultimate conceal-ability, go with the Shield. If you don't need deep concealment (i.e. tucked shirt, etc.), the 9c is a great gun.

The 9c is one of the few Smiths that does not get a rebate. Smiths sales are way down, but apparently there's a good market for the compacts.

Or maybe they've already stopped making them and are letting their inventory trickle away? I have no dog in this hunt; don't own a C.

Who's bought a 9C in the last 12 months?

There is a special through Smith that just started on the full-size and the compact. You get two extra magazines, two boxes of critical defense ammo, and a mag loader.

That's weird. Tapatalk replied to the wrong comment.

9c is a solid carry gun but like Jerz said I let mine go because the role was filled better with either a Shield or FS. I personally prefer my Shield 9 with Magguts +2 and an extra mag for the carry comfort.

I was just eyeing 40cs last night. I'm looking for a gun made for .40 (and not a 9x19 gun converted to .40) and the 40c seems to have a lot going for it.

That's one thing about the M&P it was originally designed around the .40.

Speaking of the rebates, Has anyone actually received theirs? I have been waiting a couple of months now.
Jim Scoutten (of Shooting USA TV show) said S&W acknowledged the delay and said they are doing everything they can to get them turned around. Volume is from high sales numbers, higher than they expected.

Sorry guys but I don't buy S&W's excuse at all. They officially announced they are up to their collective ***es in inventory and it will take as much as several quarters to work through it. They had to know what kind of demand the rebates would create or else they're totally incompetent.

I submitted my first rebate online sometime in April and their website shows it was "shipped" on 6/29. As of today's mail, still nothing. I've submitted 4 more rebates online (late May and a week or two later) and they don't even show up on their website yet.

http://rebateinquiryonline.com/MilanoConsumer/ConsumerAccessMilano.aspx. If you're gonna check, only input your last name and zip code.

How is it I can get a $10 rebate for a couple boxes of ammo in half the time that S&W needs?

I'm a big S&W fanboy (have bought 7 new ones so far this year) but this is taxing my "fanism".

Mine showed up as received

I use to be a big Glock fan and I still like their products but I shoot the Smith Compavtvabd full size really well and I like them so I carry them. I also carry an M&P 340 revolver when I carry a snub.

I received form letter email from S&W President, apologizing for delay in the Savings you can Carry Rebate I submitted in May.

I know it will get here. I like my M&P 9, also own the .40 and .45, all used police trades from Bud's and a new shield in .45.

I traded mine for a glock26, not because it wasn't reliable, not because I didn't think it wasn't a quality firearm. Simply because I wanted cheap readily available magazines and parts.

I've been carrying mine for a year or so and don't have a complaint.
It's easy to conceal (I also carry a full size from time to time), as accurate as I am and goes bang every time I pull the trigger.
Put all that together with their warranty and I don't think you can go wrong.

I grabbed one off the forum here yesterday and I love the size. With the pinky extension it's just slightly shorter than my hand.

With 2 OWB holsters that came with, it hides well (have an INCOG on the way, be here Tuesday) and that will help in concealment.

Has Apex goodies in it, the trigger feels great. Points naturally. I want to get some rounds through it here soon.

I have a 9c and absolutely love it. For me it is the perfect carry gun and if I had to choose one it would be the 9c. Mine has had a few hundred rounds through it with zero issues. I have the stock trigger in mine but changed the party that makes a click for the reset.

Here is a review I posted a while back on another forum
So over the last several months (years) I have been looking for my perfect carry gun. I have been carry a Glock 43 and have been really happy with it. I will still carry it and have no plans to get rid of it. However, with some recent events I wanted something that had more rounds and still be as close to concealable.

I also have back issues so weight is a factor for me. Also as a result of my back issues, running is not an option I have recently found out, so in the unlikely event of being caught up in an active shooter situation my action plan is to get hidden and ride it out if there is no easy exit. Hints the want for more rounds than the 43.

The Glock 19/23 has been at the top of the list, but carrying the 23 is difficult for me. It is a great gun and very reliable, but it just does not carry as well for me. I have had a 26/27 in the past, but that is only 3-4 more rounds. It was something I was still thinking about. However, once you add the extensions on the magazines you might as well just carry a 19/23 in my opinion.

I came across the M&P 9c. It holds 12+1 and like the Glock you can use the 17 round full size magazines. I knew it existed, but I had never looked at them. I have never really heard/notice anyone talk about them. I must say I am actually kind of shocked. I have always heard about the M&P triggers not being as good as Glock triggers and people putting in the apex triggers. I had only dry fired them years ago and was not impressed at the time. The one I picked up actually had a nice trigger, but it is missing the noticeable reset the Glocks have. However, I can fix that with a $23.00 Apex RAM kit. Other than that I would not change anything. I actually like the trigger a lot otherwise, and I am not sure I will change to the RAM part or not.

When loaded the MP9c is going to be under 30 ozs which was a key factor for me. I noticed the mp9c seemed very slim for a double stack so I took a few pictures comparing it to my 43 and this is what really shocked me. There is very little difference in size. The slide is a little thicker than the 43, but that is not really a issue. The 43 does win for being lighter weight and there will be some days that I may need that with my back issues. However, the MP9c conceals as well as the 43 for me with 13 rounds of 9mm. I have tried to make it print and cannot just like the 43. I think I can get over any trigger complaints, and honestly that is something a little bit of practice can solve.

For me and my needs this seems as perfect as I can ask for.
The target was about 10 to 15 yards and 30 rounds

I have a new M&P 40c I got on special from CDNN. Came with night sights. Just picked up a 9mm barrel from Midway for conversion. There are 50/50 suggestions on the Smith forum to buy a Storm Lake barrel or buy a factory barrel. The 9mm barrel I tried yesterday is almost right on the nuts a great fit. The test fire was smooth, no failure to feeds and within 2" COM, and of course using a 9mm mag.

For the 40 I find the large back strap is better to reduce recoil, making the 40 shoot very comfortably. Great gun.
