Over a quarter of a million folks currently without power in NC….

What am I, 3 miles up the road from you? Maybe 4?

Ours went out around 6:40pm and came back on this morning about 6:25 pm.

From Reno's store to Rocky River got slammed. Trees down all over our place. None on buildings thankfully.

We could see the "rotation" around 6:50pm or so in that 10 acre field behind Michael P.'s house. It swooped down at least twice like it was trying to kiss the ground but couldn't quite make it.
I heard a report that the same was being seen over at Meronies church about the same time.

Guess the neighbor here (off old 421) lost a big old oak tree that took out her fence. She contacted a local guy who does tree removal and he wanted the same price as if he were to take it down just to take it away and that was just to put her on a wait list. She said, no. Edit to add, what he then does is dry the wood out and get it milled and sell it.

We lost power Sunday evening for several hours. It came back on around 10pm. Then it went out again last night for about 2-3 more.

Not in NC can I post?
SC (Marion)... heavy winds, heavy rain, and boomers, lights flicker 3x and the 3rd was the charm no power..this around 8pm, so we all decided to go to bed. All of us the Pits (our babies) the other half all in one bed, Duke sent out a message "power was restored in your area" Where? Not once but twice.. Our whole street was still dark, it finally came back on at 1:15 am ..guess I will have to hook the gen up instead of being covered in the garage..

Looked like a bomb went off in Newton. Power was out from 16 to 321 along Hwy 10. The entire town was dark. As of 5 am probably half of it was still dark. Stop lights were mostly back on. Trees down everywhere.

I was up that way today, you're right, it's a mess. Traffic was shut down in both directions on Startown Road about 100 yards north of the highway 10 intersection for clean-up. I went through 3-4 intersections closer to town about 1:30pm that still did not have the redlights working.

It's definitely different when you have no power and youre not at your own home. Limited access to things (and my phone was at around 23% when the power went out, so playing around on it wasnt much of an option), yeah, best thing is just go to bed. Which is boring.
But all is good. No damage to the beach house, no damage to the cars, we're in good health...we're ok.

Not here but when I lived in NY, we had a small tornado come through. Took me over 2 hours to go the 8 miles to home.

Power was out for 3 days. Mostly because they were waiting for someone with a big enough saw to move a maple so they could put a pole back up.

My little 5k portable with a propane conversion ran the necessities with a couple of cords going to the neighbor's house.

Hopefully never have to use the 12k I have hooked up now
