I have seen a 300SL up close undergoing restoration with the body off; the engineering and design are stunning. If I had the money, one of these would be on the very short list.

A long time ago, our company’s Northern California rep did a full restore of a 1955. I was with him for a day of sales calls and we rode around his territory in that iconic car. It was an amazing day for writing orders. 😂

Some of you guys have done the coolest stuff

Pigeon Point and Point Reyes. The Fresnel lens from the Pigeon Point lighthouse is on the grounds while they restore the lighthouse structure. This lens was originally in the Hatteras lighthouse (1863) and is the only lighthouse lens that has been on both coasts, according to the park guide. We also went by the morse code station (KPH) at Point Reyes, but they're only open on Saturdays. IIUC, this is the receiving station and there's a separate transmission station some (tens of?) miles away.

Yes.
The Vette got better. And as you can see, the Avanti is no more.
The Avanti’s were a cool idea. Essentially taking a Vette, making it a four door sedan and supercharging it. They attempted something like a Maserati. I used to restore 60’s Vettes, I’ve never worked in an Avantu.

The Supercharging was a good Idea with the extra weight of adding the other doors and fiberglass, But it was still only a 289.
Some performance records were broken , but I think they were heavily modified from the factory config. that you were getting off the floor.

My wife and her sister inherited a house. Anyone want to rent a house in southeast Texas?

I’m glad they have hand soap by the sink.

My parents inherited a house like that. They also inherited renters. She lived with her 2 very young sons. I was working nearby one day and my dad called and asked if I could swing by and fix the toilet leak. I walked up to the door and couldn’t see in the window. They answered and I walked in. There was a trail to the bathroom. I walked in and there was feces and urine all on the toilet and all over the floor. I said nope and started walking out. On the way out I noticed why I could not see in the window. Flies covered the window. I called my dad and said sorry but I’m not doing it. She was later evicted because we found out that she did not pay rent to the previous owner for over a year. Double wide trailer. It took 3 of the bigger jobsite dumpsters for all the contents of the house. That’s one downside to renting.

As I left the house for a few errands…

Met two fire trucks out on the main road…

And when I came back home:

Best I can tell it was a carpet cleaning van. Or something else that would’ve had hoses running inside.

We get it, youre not hetero.
THREE pride stickers.

One with the BLM fist in it.

So dumb.

Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.

OK, so not a picture but you folks will like it anyway. Fighter jet fly over while hiking today. I was setting up to get a shot of Lost Cove cliffs. I thought there was a big gust of wind coming, then I heard it start to whine, the roar. It was banking hard left coming through the gap west of Bee Mountain and I'm pretty sure I saw the canopy for a second. Then it went west of Lost Cove Cliffs before turning east and running Linville Gorge. The wing man came directly over us and I didn't get a shot of that. By the time I let it quite down, got my video, then tried to check flight paths I found a pair of planes over freaking Johns River Gamelands! That's Newland to Jonas Ridge, down Linville Gorge, over Lake James, cross just west of Morganton and they were over Drexel by the time I found two flying in formation with no call signs. That's moving!

While it isn’t particularly rare to see the fighter jets in the Gorge area, it is always a treat for me.
