Pistol braces

i got that why?
I misunderstood your post. The why, because of the new ATF rule that was filed on Monday that turn braced pistols into short barrel rifles. Do not know if it’s temporary or permanent. The staff is discussing what direction to go from here.

Why are we not allowed to post with pistol braces? Why are we folding this is not the forum it use to be.
Liability might extend beyond buyer and seller to the forum itself. They don’t have deep pockets to defend someone else's actions that affect them.

Don’t think anyone on the forum disputes that the ATF can’t make law. However, until it has been heard before the court, it can bring undue and unwanted attention to the forum and it’s members.

I get your frustration, but I don't think this policy is born out of malice, ignorance or fuddery. I'm sure it's a temporary measure that'll be dropped as soon as the case against the ATF inevitably wins and all is brought back to normal. Just a CYA policy while we wait for the dust to settle in court.

lawsuit has been filed by gun rights groups there will be a stay in there opinion 5th circuit its gonna wear them out.
Can you afford to hire lawyers if you’re wrong? I’ve been there and done that.

This.

No one is saying you can’t sell a brace. Just can’t sell a braced pistol aka unregistered SBR per the AFT, for now.

No kidding. How hard is that to comprehend- not to mention everyone is dumping the things right now anyway - bad time to try and sell something like that unless you plan to give it away

this breaks my heart as a charter member.
I'm not tracking... this forum has stayed on the high side of legal since day 1, even when the laws are stupid. And let's be honest, most gun laws are stupid.

oh we get it just getting the DA AFT a good cussing.

I hope Scotus gives it to them without lube. But I don't expect the Forum to jeopardize its existence in protest.

I get the frustration, smokeeater, but try looking at it from another angle and directing the frustration towards the responsible party (AFT).

I don’t think anyone on the forum is happy about the rule drop, but unfortunately, since Jan 31st to the forseeable future, most brace-equipped pistols are considered to be a SBR in the eyes of the DOJ. As of right now, the transfer of those items requires the appropriate paperwork. Allowing/facilitating a mechanism for folks to engage in commerce outside the boundaries of the NFA carries with it the possibility of not only criminal penalties for members engaged in the transaction, but the risk of this place being shut down.

Is it right? Hell naw, it ain’t right and although we wish it were not so, it do be like that sometimes.

The transfer of NFA items w/o a form 4 or the very real risk of CFFs demise…

Which’ll it be?

I know some folks may consider this joint “just another social media site”, but it’s not…far from it.

The policy has nothing to do with marching in step with .gov, but everything to do with not losing the place we love.

Make sense?

Heck…not a soul I know approves of the PPP system in NC, but we don’t let ads get posted that say “no permit required”. (Yes, it happens more than you’d think…as well as PM offers of the same thing that get reported)

ETA: same reason other items that are in NFA configurations, but not registered, get edited or deleted…barrels w/o perm attached muzzle devices, VFGs on pistols that don’t meet the minimum 26” OAL requirement, etc Same goes for FRTs.

Some of you guys may be too young to remember but, no one thought that the Clinton Assault Weapons Ban would pass either. This was in 1994, things are worse now than back then.
Until this all gets sorted out, the forum will err on the side of caution. There are plenty of other places to sell your braced pistols, just not here at this time.

You give the crybabies their $20 back and I’ll pony up as a life member to support what needs to be done to keep the forum from getting into trouble.
