Post Your Furry Friends...

Had to bid adieu to this old man on 12/4….
Raised him from 8 weeks to 13 years….
Heartbroken is an understatement. Been almost two weeks and I still lose my 💩 about once or twice a day…..
God I miss him….

I’m sorry for your loss man, I know many people have been through the agony of losing a furry family member but personally, I’ve always felt like I’m alone in the universe after such a loss and it’s a horrible experience to go through, your anguish is proof that you did right by him and he relished every second he spent with you guys, as hard as it may be right now, try to remind yourself that he knew he was the luckiest pup on this planet and he loved the life you guys shared with him.

Boxers are so special. No dog has as big of a heart as a Boxer
No truer statement has ever been made. My last few dogs has been boxers or boxer mixes. They are just the most perfect all around dog. So sweet and loving and ain't scared to get down to business if need be. Great around kids. I don't think I'll ever have another dog unless it has some boxer in it. After my last dog passed 7 years ago who was full blood boxer I rescued off the river bank where somebody had dumped him out. I had no intentions of getting another dog or atleast not very soon. I had my boy cujo for 12 years and found him while fishing. He was surviving off rotten deer people had been throwing out. Took me 2 days with a razor knife to cut the fur out of his teeth so he could open his mouth all the way. Then alpt at the vet to clear parasites and worms along with some skin infections. He was a great dog and friend. About a year later I seen some boxer/pit mix puppies on criaglist and soon as I seen the pic of my girl Lucie I had to have her. Her colors and patches are almost identical to the way cujo looked. She will be 6 in couple weeks and has been a pure blessing. It's allways sad when our pets are called home cause they really do become family. Atleast we get to keep all the great memories and times spent with our furry buddies

My vet is a big big Boxer fan. His Boxer had a heart attack In front of him and he lost him. He is like I was at one time and just couldnt open up his heart to be vulnerable. He had the "if I don't know them I cant miss them" attitude. I told him there is a Boxer with a hole in his spirit that only he can fill so get out there and find him/her and he did.
I also have an American Staffordshire Terrier who was dumped out in my driveway. I know this because the driveway camera picked up the human waste of oxygen that did it. I am not sure if anyone had had that experience but they are also big loving dogs. American Staffies are generally much bigger than the English Staffy but they both share the same disposition. He is a big pile of muscle with a huge headd that people mistake for a Pit Bull. The Brits call them "nanny dogs" because of their deep love for kids. Leave a child with a Staffy and they will be protected from all threats. They are fearless and very intelligent. When I found him the day after being thrown out he was so malnourished he was eating grasshoppers in the yard. I brought him inside and he walked over to the male boxers food dish and ate all that was in it. I said to my wife " He thinks he is at home" and she told me "maybe he is" and he has been here since. His name is Rex, named after the T Rex dinosaur because when he plays with the other dogs he stands on his back legs and paws them in the face then runs off with a big grin on his face. My wife says I will talk someone to death about our dogs. What a good subject to bore people.

Bella and Major got their fros did a couple nights ago. The groomer made these of them. Photoshopped but turned out pretty good

As a community, we are a motley crew of rednecks, ruffians and uncouth miscreants, but we have some of the most incredibly cute pets I’ve seen in any community I’ve been a part of, the mere fact that our furry kids love us so much tells me that I’m definitely in good company!!!!

Keep’em coming folks, all kidding aside, no matter how bad my day or week is going, coming into this thread and seeing the pictures y’all share always has a way of evaporating the stress and BS I may be dealing with at any given time, and I am extremely thankful for that because I can’t have Sasha by my side 24/7, but seeing y’all’s pictures gets me through!!

Here we have Rocky. He was a rescue as well. He was physically abused in Raleigh and had broke free and ran away. He was on streets and managed to not get ran over. He was picked up and deemed to be aggressive and a risk and unfit for adoption. We know what that would have meant. We managed to talk the pound into letting me at my own risk try to pet and soothe him. Knowing how to handle dogs and what excites them I was able to pet him and was hand feeding him before we left the pound. I paid the deposit and waited the mandatory time for the Rabies wait and background check. We picked him up and he has been a dream dog. I realized that when he hurts he growls to let you know. He does not intend to bite it is just his way of saying something is wrong.

Nice story...pretty pup

Our baby girl Marley we've had for almost 7 years. She was a rescue, she had been run away and they found her on the streets in Frederick, when we went looking for another family member at the Aminal shelter, she was off in the cage, just sat there, with that stare, as if to say please take me home, please get me out of here, they told us she had bit one of the people there who was in my eyes playing with her, I read the report and told them so..we want her, and to find out someone had paid for her adoption. All I can say things happen for a reason, she's a sweetheart, loves her stuffed animals, balls, has a mouth and a attitude. We got her a bigger brother a few years later, Gherico, he's a rescue an older pit mix, we got him from a pit rescue that was shutting down in VA. All I can say is they are like brother and sister, they look out for one another..they are the best entertainment, friends anyone would want.. They come first, whatever they need..we find a way ...they are family, and really are better than family in ways...

We replace her chew bone every Christmas, and methinks pup pup has figured out which present is hers 🥰

She's super good about it. I put it out the week before Christmas and every year she sniffs it out pretty quick. She'll keep an eye on it for the next week but won't drag it off and tear into it.

Just a follow-up on my girl.

We met with the oncologist today. Even though her last surgery had incomplete margins, there is still only about a 30% chance of the tumor coming back, and a 70% chance it won't. If it does recur, we would feel it as a lump along the scar from the previous removal. Since this grade has a very low risk of metastasis and moving to other organs or areas, they recommended we just wait and watch, feeling her skin regularly for any signs of recurrence. If we do feel it return, she will have a second surgery removing 2cm of skin around the entire previous scar. So as long as we detect any bumps early, it's a low risk of spreading and is in a great location if she needs the surgery because the skin on her neck is very elastic and there is a good bit of extra. Chest x-rays showed clear lungs as well, which is the most common location for metastasis.

So all things considered, about the best news we could hope for given the situation, and we can hopefully breathe a bit of a sigh of relief over the holidays.
