Smith & Wesson is a religion of peace.
Men rarely ask for help. Men are supposed to be strong enough to battle thru it all. Its perceived as being a weakness. That is why so many men are homeless. We are dirtbags if we cry for help. Suck it up they say.
I feel like this is a big part of it. Part of being a man is "manning up", having a stiff upper lip, and taking care of your problems by yourself even when you're feeling scared and weak. Its sad how many men choose to end their lives, or simply sink into living on the street rather than reaching out for help.
Personally, I think Its pretty darn manly to admit when you need some help. And its important to have a few close friendships with other men that you can confide in, and talk about the issues that you're struggling with.
There's also the stigma with mental health care. Afraid to admit we have depression, anxiety, afraid of medications, afraid of seeking therapy. Just like a joint or muscle can experience pain, so can the mind, and there's nothing wrong with getting treatment to help you recover.
