Duracoat green, brown and tan brotherQuick! Pick out three colors to use for a camp job. For something like Carolina woods. An “all purpose” camo job.
The choices should be something I’m likely to find in a WalMart, Lowe’s, or Home Depot.
What should I buy?
I’m really digging the brownMaybe less is more. Test sprays with one coat. Standard "brown", and a lighter green I found at Lowes. I think the green is too bright.

Krylon sells like 4 colors of camo paint in local stores. I got mine in either Lowes or HDThose available in local stores?
For mine, I always do a base cost of tan (FDE), then give accents of ODG and dark brown. There is also a lighter moss green that is good to use to break up all of the dark.Quick! Pick out three colors to use for a camp job. For something like Carolina woods. An “all purpose” camo job.

Remember to go from light to dark, then you can accent over the dark with light again! Thanks! I just hit up a WalMart. They had tan and green, no brown.
I’ll try Lowe’s. Hoping to do a paint job tomorrow.
Wipe down with alcohol. Send it. Stuff paperboard/paper towel roll/newspaper down the handguard to cover the barrel. Tape trigger and optic glass. How do you all clean the AR before painting?( i would prob disassemble the gun to parts) and what do you use for getting all the oil and dirt/powder etc without harming the anodizing. Thinking about doing my 350 legend i built last fall. This may have been posted but i am too lazy at the moment to search😁
Thanks
I sprayed my last one with mineral spirits, no disassembly. Shut the dust cover, inserted a mag, taped off the glass, put a patch in the muzzle device/muzzle and went to town. How do you all clean the AR before painting?( i would prob disassemble the gun to parts) and what do you use for getting all the oil and dirt/powder etc without harming the anodizing. Happened to scroll back through this thread today. As info, the stencil kit is currently on sale for $13.99.@Crazy Carl, yeah, I got a stencil from Primary Arms years ago and have used it on a bunch of stuff. Looks like they still have them but I can’t imagine I spent twenty bucks on it.

I have, some don't. Your gun your rules. I do know the flat camo is not very durable, very chalky. If you want something that will last, there are better options than rattle can paintThanks all
I’ll probably strip it all down and paint lower/upper and handguard. It takes me no time at all to build an AR these day. Do you all paint the buttstock and grips also? I would sand or scuff them a lil bit to help paint bond better
Ask me how I know you don't have a little girl who loves crafts. Hobby Lobby is your friend for every color under the sun. Thanks! I just hit up a WalMart. They had tan and green, no brown.

Dale, what do you like for your wrap?
If I deem a gun worthy of grabbing in a shtf situation then it gets painted. I have yet to lose value because of a painted gun. Mainly because I don't sell painted guns but I have traded with them and I've never personally lost value due to paint. Most people like it and are too scared to lose value.Just wondering, how many of you guys do a rattle can paint job on your guns ? Do you think it effects the value of the gun ?
Not bad. Looks like a useful camo paint job to meI don’t understand your post, but thanks for bumping the thread. This is what happened when the rattle cans came out last weekend.
Both sides, all three colors, the whole job took less time to paint than it did to tape.

You caught me. Figured I'd stretch my legs in this "forum". Spreading positivity all about.
Good for you but I'd never buy a painted rifle, major turn off for me.If I deem a gun worthy of grabbing in a shtf situation then it gets painted. I have yet to lose value because of a painted gun. I understand where youre coming from but a rifle is made to be used and if you're using it then it should be painted so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. You wouldn't be interested in the slr 106fr that I posted? You cray. Get out the house and shoot!!Good for you but I'd never buy a painted rifle, major turn off for me.
A good rag or 2 can get most of the oil off. Sometimes the oil can create cool patterns. After you've painted, if there are goopy spots, wipe these areas with a rag or cleaning patches that have some clp on them and the goopy paint will go away and leave a cool camo looking pattern. Here is an example. I did nothing more than paint an oiled rifle and wipe away spots that were goopy a couple days later. If the paint comes off with cleaning patches and clp then it was never gonna stay for long anyway. How do you all clean the AR before painting?( i would prob disassemble the gun to parts) and what do you use for getting all the oil and dirt/powder etc without harming the anodizing. The problem usually is that the very custom paint job that you liked has to meet somebody else who likes just that. But to each his own!I understand where youre coming from but a rifle is made to be used and if you're using it then it should be painted so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Just don't bring your unpainted rifle into battle, ok? How about that? Keep your black, unpainted, 1 shot every 5 seconds, paper map, earth is flat, no good for battle .22lr conversion piece of crap at the house. The problem usually is that the very custom paint job that you liked has to meet somebody else who likes just that. You need to go to home depot. Rustoleum camo paint. Dark/deep forest green, dark earth brown and flat black. Could change green to tan.Quick! Pick out three colors to use for a camp job. For something like Carolina woods. An “all purpose” camo job.

You're not alone. There are many people that don't go shooting or ever have any fun doing anything. Paint comes off too.I don't get people that spray paint their ARs and then try to sell them. If there is any chance of selling just don't do it. I would never buy one that had that treatment and I suspect I am not alone on that.
Need dark/deep forest green. Army green is brightI’m really digging the brown
How many battles have you been in? We don't count playing Fortnite.Just don't bring your unpainted rifle into battle, ok? How about that? Keep your black, unpainted, 1 shot every 5 seconds, paper map, earth is flat, no good for battle .22lr conversion piece of crap at the house.
Call of duty, sir. You never know thou. I could have easily been military and then you'd be eating your words. How many battles have you been in? We don't count playing Fortnite.
