Hard to beat a 3” K Frame for OWB carry while hiking. Did a few miles today with a factory DAO Model 65, loaded with .357, in a Lobo Gun Leather Enhanced Pancake holster and my favorite hiking partners...Mrs. Prosecutor and baby Prosecutor.

Speaking of grips...had something waiting in my mailbox today. A new in box set of Herrett’s Shooting Ace grips for post-1966 Colt D Frame (Detective Special, Cobra, Agent, Diamondback, Police Positive). Just so happens that I had this mid-1970s Detective Special sitting in the safe with no grips. Carried it this evening in my ragged old Safariland IWB.

I'll give @Cocked & Locked credit for turning me onto these grips. They look nice and are highly functional. They fill the hand but remain flat / thin for easy concealment. Also, for me, they put my trigger finger in just the right position.

Nice grips. Can't help but notice the color of the belt clip on the IWB holster...hoping there aren't matching pants somewhere.

Ha. The belt clip is just plain metal but reflecting my red shirt. But, there are some pink shorts in my carry rotation.

Classy looking on the little Colt! I have some post 66 D frame Shooting Ace ones but they are the standard checkering.

The only set of ship checkered ones I have are for a Charter Arms.

@Cocked & Locked Any issues firing those shot shells thru an S&W 442? Can that be a good setup for working in the yard?

No issues at all. I shoot them in my 642 and other .38 special revolvers. Been doing so for decades.

I also load them in .44 special and magnum.

Short barrels pattern best. Speer Shot Cups work great. I use 7.5 shot just because I have some.

Great for rats, copperheads, rattlers, etc.

Much better than factory loaded ones with smaller size shot.

Just picked up it's cousin with smooth grips and brass backstrap and trigger guard at The Gunshop in Snead's Ferry this past Saturday. Now to get a nice cowboy holster set to carry it in. Have been wanting one for a long time. Walked in the door and there it was. They had just put it in the display case and the store had only been open 20 minutes. Glad I got there early.

These guns are the bee's knees. I'm down to one last 5.56 AR and I'm tossing around the idea of trading it for a .38/.357 lever. Kinda getting out of my "tacticool" phase and swinging back to my first love. Old school firearms

Yep! Been looking at the Uberti lever gun in 38/357 to go with it, but right now the price is out of reach.

I also load and shoot the Speer Shotcapsules out of my 442, CA Bulldog and TC Contender. Squirrels at 15 yds with shotshells, has a choke that stops the spin from the rifling.

I was brought up being told that patience is a virtue and good things come to those that wait. It's true .I have gotten 4 or 5 guns in the last couple of months that I have drooled over ,wanting for years. They were either in bad shape or way over priced. By waiting I have fulfilled my wish list ,well at least part of it:rolleyes:

Till recently this H&R 999 Sportsman 22 LR has eluded me. Have been looking for one in this condition for many years . I finally got it. View attachment 50081

You only have that fine pistol because I didn't buy it... got the S&W 610 instead!

I actually had filled out paperwork for the H&R 999, and when I finished, I found in the glass case, directly under where I was writing, the S&W 610. Had totally overlooked it until then!

I actually bought it from an individual near Henderson not from a business.. I got all of my dream guns from this and another site..The only handgunI have purchased from a store has been Glocks

Well, bite my tongue! I figured since the timing was the same, and you are in Thomasville, you had the one I passed on. How 'bout that! Two of 'em turn over at about the same time! I wish one of 'em was mine.

man I want a nice H&R sportsman. Had to settle for a 80s vintage 949 Forty-Niner but its so fun and shooting SA slows down my ammo consumption. Still can shoot a brick a day if I want
I also wish I had a 949.

I might have posted it already, but here's my 922:

Ah is all mixed up heah now!

Guess I need another increment up in me readers... anyway, I enjoyed almost buyin' a 999 and seein' yours as well. It's kinda like a 22 Schoefield. I love the way they look when fully broken open fer loadin'.
