Revolver Picture Thread

This is one of those days that only comes around every few years. Got a sweet local deal on two of my favorite revolvers. A Model 66 snubby (no dash - 1976-77) and Model 10-5 snubby (1969). The Model 66 came with the original box and paperwork. It looks to be 98-99%. It's awesome. It came with a price so low that I feel guilty (almost). Started with a "3". Yup.

The Model 10-5 is in great shape. A few dings in the wood grip and mid-90% bluing. Only wear is on the corner right in front of the cylinder. Came with an incorrect box. In fact, the box is for a very very early 66 snub. Also, the price was ridiculously low. Prosecutor is a S&W and Colt Revolver hoarder. We'll see him on one of those TV Hoarder Intervention shows one of these days I'm thinking.

It's funny, or not so funny, I have a 25-2 (.45 ACP) that came from a hoarder. A coworker's brother was a ridiculous hoarder and died in a home packed with crap. That crap included boxes and boxes of NIB Smith and Colts...high end stuff, Pythons, Gold Cups from the late 60s), Model 29s, etc. Tens of thousands of dollars in ammo. All told, more than $330,000 of firearms / ammo at 2007 or 2008 (can't remember) prices. I helped her, with the assistance of a professional, appraise and sell it all. Only kept the 25-2 for myself. So, it seems that I've got a bit of self control :)

I've been trying a lot of new grips lately. It seems that the right set can improve function and appearance. This little Ahrends boot grip in goncalo alves wood showed up today. The Model 38 is not new. The fit and finish is perfect. These are super light and concealable. They fill the hand like a wood Tyler T grip.

Nice "little boot grips." But actually, these right here are little boot grips.

Even the name "Cocked & Locked" implies that you don't need to overcompensate for anything with unnecessarily large boot grips. Nice.

Those Ahrends boot grips you have on the model 38 S&W look like they would feel great in the hand. I've had K & N frame Ahrends grips but never any for a J-frame. Nice!

There are a lot of folks out there that would've taken advantage of a situation like that. Your coworker was lucky she asked an ethical person to help with the liquidation.

Love the two new K-frames. You are definitely having some good S&W luck. Nothing wrong with that.

Found this at a gun shop today. Actually, walked right past and didn't notice it on my first trip. A friend brought it to my attention later. I've been in the market for a 3" Model 60 but would have preferred fixed sights. This is a Model 60-10, has adjustable target sights and a 3" barrel. Chambered for .38 Special / .357 Magnum. It came with the original box, docs, and Uncle Mike's rubber grip. I swapped the grip for Sile wood. Look forward to carrying and shooting this one.

A 3" J Frame carries just as easy in-waist-band with a TT Gunleather KX Lightweight.

Here is with a couple other 3" J Frames...a 36 and 37.

Prosecutor you have hit a vein of nice revolvers. I hope it continues.

Since I only seem to take these out to the range when there is someone with me that either can't handle a 44mag or have just never shot one, these poor neglected wheel guns rarely see the light of day. The 686-1 and the Competitor I have never even shot yet! So thought I'd give them their moment in the sun!
Starting at the top left to right:
S&W 686-3 Silhouette
S&W 686-1
Dan Wesson 5"shroud 4" barrel
Dan Wesson 4"
S&W Competitor

Great find! They don't make em like that anymore.

I knew to me 1953 Colt Detective Special. Picked it up today. Some carry wear but mechanically, it's perfect. I really like the vintage trigger shoe and Tyler T-Grip. A big thanks to Prosecutor for giving me the heads up about it (and passing on it so I could buy it ;)) View attachment 2757 View attachment 2758

I knew that you would like that one. 1953 gun that locks up tight with the trigger back. Mechanically rock solid with lots of character. :)

Traveling from back from Georgia today and stopped by Badger Grips. Wanted to pick up some unfinished Goncalo Alves Colt D Frame and Smith & Wesson K Frame round butt grips. Came home with a few others as well. Better post to follow. Grips will probably go onto different guns.

The grips on the Colt are beautiful.

No kidding. Just really good stock. Nice grain. That is absolutely unfinished. Nothing on top. Will probably coat with a little tung oil for protection. Will really make the grain pop...but certainly does not need it. Badger did a good job with this one.

Badger makes some nice grips.

The pair of Nickel Mod. 38's are beautiful, but the birdseye maple grips on a blued gun really do it for me. I love the contrast.

BTW- The vintage diamond grips on the Mall Ninja 438 is a nice touch...
