I remember seeing these in 5.56 and 7.62x39 a few years back, blowing out for 250-300 bucks. Now they are unobtanium and I watch them bid up to 750-800 when they do show up.

Did I miss something? I was just wanting to pick up a 7.62x39 model for some cheap piddling around, but damn.

......iirc they were 350-425 new, depending on the cartridge. That was consistent from 2015 or so until ??
The newer models.that were ar magazine compatable were a little more expensive.

You can still get an SKS. šŸ˜

Hell, I got a whole pile of locust posts already.

That seems right, and then a few places were blowing them out for 300 or less. Now 825 or higher for them. Not understanding the extreme price jump unless there is really that much demand for a intermediate cartridge bolt gun with plastic furniture.

Only two years ago they were 300 bucks for 5.56 and 300WM (didnt check pricing on the 7.62)
Shocking they've jumped up so much

Wow, I had no idea. I always liked the idea of a threaded Ranch in 300BLK since they were so cheap yet still good quality.

I wonder if the price increase is caused by Ruger opting to make higher priced and higher margin rifles given the supply chain and labor shortages. Many companies are doing the same.

But at $35 an hour they arenā€™t going to get toolmakers through the door. But looks like the Maydon plant is going to be the center of the Marlin lever action production so it will probably cut into the American line for a while.

The new one's are much better rifles (more accurate and more usefull) than the old 180 and 181 series rifles I used to own. My kids all learned about simi-auto centerfire rifles with a Mini-14. I have 2 new one's now. One stainless and one blued, both 16" with flash hiders. To appease my old eyes both have red dots mounted on forward Picatinny Rails made by Ultimak. An AR would still be my go to for self-defense but I wouldn't feel under-gunned with my new Mini's. They aren't cheap anymore but neither is anything else.

He is talking about the American bolt action

Any of the less expensive bolt guns that take AR mags have gone NUTZ!!! About 10 years ago +- I had been given a gift card from BPS. I got my Pard from there to order a Ruger Frontier in 7.62x39 for me. It was over $900 then....yep...that is kinda apples and grapefruits,,,,but those Frontiers were high priced little rifles. I still have mine and it has been wonderful.

I bought one in 300 blackout that takes ar mags from academy a few months ago for $420 + tax. They had another one on the shelve last time I was in there.

I paid $299 for my predator and $299 for my ranch. That was 5 years ago? They are cool little guns you can upgrade. Mace sports in mebane routinely has a couple in different calibers, usually around $425.

Just join the CZ club.

I just don't care that much for soy lattes and French poodles. :p

Really, they are beautiful rifles, but those magazine prices... Plus the appeal of the Ruger, is it is cheap, light, and plasticy enough that I don't have to care about dropping it.

Plus Nodak Spud now makes iron sights for them.

(Sweet Rover, by the way)

Are the Standard models priced the same?

I picked up mine (308) at Gander in Winston, when they were going outta businessā€¦just shy of $250 OTD.

Ruger #26965, that's the AR-mag version of the 5.56 model. Once those came out and Ruger moved past those older 5-round rotary mags the guns took off.

I couldn't count how many times I've had someone offer to buy mine while either at the range or hunting camp. For my purposes, it's the perfect quiet little bolt gun. I do have my Turbo can on it so light and quiet(ish) seems to be the perfect combo.

Same experience except with model 26944. Itā€™s a 223 model with 22ā€ barrel.

Have you considered this chassis? I canā€™t decide if I want to spend more money on what was initially a cheap rifle.

Iā€™m having trouble seeing the allure when a budget AR seems equal on almost all front. Threaded, similar weight, price point now is similar, AR is semi auto, both are threaded.

I guess suppressed the x39 has the chance of being quieter being a bolt gun.

They look cool but with ARs being so cheap I just donā€™t get it.

I hadn't seen that chassis and after looking at it, I'm sure it wouldn't interest me. It certainly creates a different looking rifle but for what mine can do as is, it's plenty good enough for me.

Iā€™ve considered one of these in the medium length with barrel cut off and rethreaded right past the fore end for my 300 blackout. I canā€™t canā€™t get myself to drop that kind of coin on a $400 rifle. I would end up having almost $1k in it no including the gun or scopešŸ˜

Kinda my thought as well, the rifle is pretty great as is.

$400

Anyone have experience with this site? Saw a X39 Ranch locally on Sat, but it was near the $600 mark...$400 is more my speed with a bit of shipping and a $15 transfer!

Iā€™d like the .450BM thumper version, but I need a new caliber like we need a new coof variant! šŸ˜¬šŸ¤£
