Several Survival/Prepping Questions

Food is always on people list, because obvious.

Also, everyone loves guns and ammo. But small game can be taken with pellet guns as well, cheaper to buy and "lose". pellets are easier to store as well.

I like to think outside the box for things to have on hand, and things that can readily be made portable. Add to it if you'd like.

1. Fels-naptha soap for clothing.
2. mini bottles of personal hygiene products(found in wal-mart/target etc.)
3. spare undies and socks. 1 weeks worth.
4. towel coins(compressed single use towelettes available on ebay/amazon)
5. Cheap extra shoes just to have in case.
6. Roll of thick painters plastic, Dozens of immediate use.
7. safety glasses( obvious use)
8.

Why do you think the 1 gallon bags did not seal? Oxygen is 20% of your air volume and 1000cc is adequate for that size. The bag may still have air in it but its gtg. There is very little interstitial space(air between pieces) with spaghetti so your protected.
If you still can't sleep nights cut a small corner off bag, slide another absorber in and reseal.

I just assumed that since it wasn't sucked in like the other bags that, I did something wrong. I'm new at mylar.

There is a case for leaving air in the bag. The oxygen needs gone but the nitrogen is beneficial to the product being stored. Mylar is the way to go as the HDPE buckets do leech some oxygen over time even though they are "food safe".
Long ago on a planet far away nitrogen purging was the schnizit for deep larder storage. Nitrogen was pushed thru a sunken conduit in the bucket. A match was lit at bucket mouth and when it extinguished the bucket was filled. The lid was quickly installed and all was gtg.
Mylar and O2 absorbers are the schnizit of today...ur goods will be fresh as a daisy in 2075.
