I usually err on the side of operator error - but the reports of UD just keep adding up. The report of the USPSA dude had several witnesses, not that they’re infallible. But it’s enough that I would have that in the back of my mind with having a holstered 320. And ain’t a snowballs chance in hell I’d ever appendix carry one.

If it's the USPSA dude I'm thinking about, he tucked in his shirt between the ND and the next pic that was taken of him. Suspicious billowing of his shirt in the first pic led me to believe he might have had a shirt tucked into the holster as well as the gun.

The stories are starting to mount up, but still it's 99% LEO. Maybe LEO should follow the military lead and only use Sigs with safeties?

I don't mean to dominate this thread but if his shirt hooked on the trigger it's game over for a p320... no trigger blade

Apparently not USPSA (my bad) - but several witnesses during a steel challenge comp.

The video is a bit sus, with little evidence there. But Reddit tore it all apart and did track down a couple of witnesses (unfortunately I haven't seen a statement from the actual RSO...).

I don't 100% buy it, but it all ads up to enough that I'm not comfortable carrying a P320. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even if it is something caught in the holster, or some weird human induced phenomenon - there's enough here to question the engineering of the pistol. If S&W and Canik can have arguably better triggers on a partially precocked striker, and Springfield and HK not having similar issues with the VP on a fully precocked design, I just can't justify a purchase with questionable safety history. In defense, there a shit ton of P320s out there, compared to other brands.

I'm not a lawyer, but I would think anything inadvertently manipulating the trigger would be evidence against the gun having a flaw. If someone wanted to carry a pistol and be 100% assured it would not go off when the trigger was not pulled on purpose, and assured the gun wouldn't go off with some foreign body introduced during holstering, draw and presentation to the target, that someone would have to carry an unloaded pistol. Even carrying with a loaded magazine but without a round in the chamber would not be 100% safe because of the chance of an ND while chambering a round.

Guns are dangerous.

I don't know which would be objectively worse.
A poorly made gun that fires on it's own from the factory.
A poorly made gun that fires on it's own because pot metal parts break due to low round counts.
Worst of all is when it says Sig on a handgun less than 20 years old.

;)

If that was the issue with all the police NDs, you'd think someone would have seen that by now.

I wouldn't assume there was any difference between the MS and no MS strikers

Police definitely have NDs with all types of guns. Cops run the gambit from serious shooters to people who begrudgingly qualify once a year.

I like Smith better as a personal preference. Glocks are ubiquitous and good to practuce with too. I just don't love sig and as others mentioned, the market is just too competitive to settle for a M17 or P320.

Side note, I dont remember hearing these issues when sig came out with the P250 series of guns with the modular FCG chassis, but I could be wrong

Sig P320 Upgrade program about two-three week turnaround, check your s/n here, call them if your pistol needs the upgrade done at no cost.
Edit: they received it Wednesday and just got FedEx alert it will be delivered on Tuesday. 😃
