Yeah, maybe I misread or misunderstood. I was simply speaking to how the advantage changes when things are on your turf.
Well, I simply meant that desire to win, training and your previously mentioned home field advantage only increases your odds a fraction. Better? Absolutely and I do everything I can to help to stack those grains of preparedness in my favor. But...
There is no way that we can take on even a numerically similar force and expect to dominate. Even if the weapons and training are in our favor the reality is that people on your side will die.
Whether we are talking a mob from an urban area sweeping toward your home, being caught up in an event while out with friends or facing a hungry group who smelled your roasting opossum at your retreat post SHTF, fights are not one sided and the good guys (whoever that is) don't always win.
We as the prepper/survivalist/realist community HAVE to get that even under the ideal we are going to face HORROR and BRUTALITY that we as modern Americans cannot begin to yet understand. A tiny minority of military and others have seen it, but even they have not lived it. We are simply not, nor can we be, ready because to be ready means to have experience.
We also HAVE to get the idea that the collectivist minded people will not stop, will not coexist and will not live and let live.
Stomping them out completely is the only real answer, and we are not even .1% ready to do that.
All of us are in deep normalcy bias, and those who say they are not are lying to themselves. Reality will be a cruel bitch when she finally arrives and I for one dread that hour like nothing else. The bravado of some (not necessarily anyone here) tells me that they are not anyone I want to be close to when that train pulls into the station.
The author of the article I posted is a SF veteran, has tons of experience and a career of being able to understand how insurgencies and indigenous people operate in civil conflict. I think he is spot on and I also think that the leftist agitators we are seeing now destroying colleges and burning businesses have already begun this war which we mostly think is off in the future.
The future is now.
