That has been my concern about putting a qd/sling mount there and it getting too hot or melted is that a real concern or no?

You are correct, it’s stainless steel cable. They made so if needed, a lefty could thread it under or around the gas block. Since they do not have the sling loop on the right side.Not sure. I’d try just checking how hot that area gets next time you’re at the range.
That blue force gear sling looks like it’s braided metal (under the plastic coating?) on one end, so may not matter if it gets hot.
