Texas church shooting

Agreed.

Doesn’t matter where I am, I’m always looking around, head up and aware. Unless it’s a felony to do so, I’ve got a gun on me.
Please, everyone, be situationally aware, keep your loved ones safe and don’t trust anyone.

Read 20 dead including children. CNN peddling hate crime but no details though on the race of the assaillant.

I'm bracing myself for the nonsensical argument that the populace would be safer if we disarm law-abiding citizens. Lord bless that little church. May God's comfort and peace rest upon them.
Hate to say it but coming so close on the heals of Vegas I'm afraid this could be "the one" that causes our spineless representatives to cave.

What causes someone to do such a thing?

I hate myself for thinking it so quickly after the shooting instead of stopping to think about the families and everyone involved, but that was the first thing I thought of when I heard about it.

Southern Baptist Church in TX?

Doesn't sound like the "alt-right" imo.

Wonder if it was an old church population or close-knit congregation. I'd assume anywhere else, they'd be carrying or have security.

Sadly I did too especially once I heard the MSM say children.

A shame that gun control isn’t the problem.

I’d rather be caught dead with it than caught dead without it. Carry everywhere, no matter what.

That was tactful. I thought the same thing right after I posted but I also think that it's OK to show immediate concern over the things that affect us without including a token statement of sympathy for people I don't know. Of course it's terrible, do I really have to go on record as having said so? I do believe the families deserve respect and privacy during these times without hearing about political issues though.

There won't be much solid information for a while.

After reading half a dozen reports from major news sites:
  • a witness heard "about twenty shots"
  • townspeople said normal church attendance was "around 50"
  • reports say "27 dead and 30 wounded"

Supposedly the congregation was only about 50 which is almost exactly the number of wounded and deceased, so that means he would have to have shot pretty much everyone.

They said only about 600 people in town. Where everyone knows your name. I bet most people did not feel that they needed to carry in Gods house.

It is taking them along time to give the identity of the shooter, we have had more information faster out of many of the other shootings. They already killed they guy so what is the hold up?

"Coulter's law dictates that the longer that it takes the media to identify the shooter the less likely he is white and Christian."

I read somewhere something like he posted this was payback for Charleston, so possibly he's black and it was a hate crime. If so then it's taking the spin machine a little longer to fabricate the usual narrative to blame guns, and Trump.

Interesting... Nobody offered... but...

I am wondering if there is anything that we can do to help, or at least offer help? Ideas?

Some sort of fund? I couldn’t give much.

Its becoming a different world.......this is truly terrible.
I don't necessarily agree, the enemy is just gaining numbers and ramping up attacks.

Like that pastor said, this is a spiritual war. Good and Evil have been there since the fall of man. The only thing that has changed is the tools to carry out the chaos.

We also have communication at the speed of light now. We know what the media wants us to know as soon as it happens.

First details on Fox that the perp drove over two hours to arrive at this church. Something about his postings on social media. Also today is the anniversary of the Ft. Hood shooting fwiw.

Fox is reporting a Mid-20’s white guy from a neighboring area. He also showed off an AR-15 style rifle. Take it with a grain of salt
