Have you learned anything that you're surprised you didn't already know? Did you catch yourself doing something stupid that could have been bad under other circumstances? I'm open to any new info.
I'll start with 2 examples:
On another forum a guy didn't realize how much crud his gun picked up from pocket carry. He saw a critter in his yard that could have been a problem for his dog and he took a shot at it... only to have his gun jam up and be unable to fire a 2nd shot. Could have been a problem if he was in a defensive situation.
And for ME...
Today I learned that you have to clear your "cover garment" even if you're open carrying...
See, I had my shirt tucked behind my holster, leaving my gun clearly visible... but when I got home and went to take the whole rig down, I went to pull the gun out, and the rocker switch for the TLR4 snagged my shirt somehow. I had to grab my shirt, punch the gun down, then bring it back up. Sure it only took maybe a half second... but a half second can be a long time
I usually carry concealed and I'm pretty good at clearing my cover that way... but it never even occurred to me that I might have to do the same thing when OC.
