Wanting to upgrade the trigger in my AR. Budget is sub $200 so Geissele is out of budget unless I go with the G2S trigger they offer. I haven't upgraded triggers often so unsure what is best. What are your experiences and opinions?
PSA has a rise armament trigger on sale for $99
Is that worth it or is there something better for the money?

Ah, the Schmid trigger. If you look around there's about ten other companies selling it with a different name. I think of them like a milspec+ trigger. Not quite match, not quite bog standard.
Yep. But since I was putting one in every AR I owned, I opted for those over something $100+.

If you like a short single stage, CMC all day! If you wait for sales, they can be had for $100-120 shipped.
I have/have owned multiple Geissele, Rise, RRA, various brands of NiB milspec triggers, and of course CMC, and depending on the purpose I go NiB or CMC.

Never really had anything other than milspec so not really sure on the single vs 2 stage. As far as use probably won't be competition, somewhere between duty and precision the gun it will be is a aero lower with bcm 18"upper with bcm furniture, bipod and lvpo. I see a Laure in the bst for $95 shipped, psa has timney impact on sale for $99

You want a 2 stage. The LaRue will give you geissele like quality for half the price.

I bought four or five LaRue MBT-2s off ^him^ some time ago; shipped fast and a pleasure to deal with!

I own and have multiple Geiselle, CMC, Timney, PSA Enhanced and some others icr as well all installed in various ar’sat present; and, if I had to choose only one, it’d be Larue, hands down. Even our go to’s in our M&P 15-22’s (CMC’s had all sorts of failures to reset in those … not the LaRues)

Triggertech duty triggers are on sale for right around $100 and are excellent.

They are way out of the OP's budget, but I agree with @Avery - the high end Hiperfires are awesome - IMO the best action shooting triggers, and I have a bunch and have tried many more. After Hiperfire, probably the Geissele SD3G for me.

+1 for CMC on sale, good value single stage.

Well shoot! Where have I been? Found myself here to talk about our lord and savior, Hiperfire. think I’ll mind my business and look into the larue mbt instead!

Hiperfire is the ring that rules them all!

Two-stage ewwww.
But they make a two-stage now as well. Anyone tried it?

JP spring kits do great. Little of work on a standard trigger and the spring kit make a great trigger.

Done several and anyone shooting the guns always question what it cost and where they can get one.

Under $200...?? Get the Larue... You wont be disappointed.

I prefer a 2 stage trigger in my rifles. This basically allows the same trigger "finger mechanics" between the rifle and the handgun.
I run Wilson Combat TTU rifle triggers. They are expensive, but they are extremely well built and basically bombproof.

Well done @Pinky787

I have one of about everything and while others have their draw, the Larue probably wins overall #1

Now buy ammo and run it.

Got the larue installed and just dry fired it a few times and it feels great
I never liked th trigger slap they have..
After talking to them at length they said they agree that it has trigger slap and more then most.
They offered to replace it but said it would be the same.
He tried several when on the phone and could not find one that had no slap. Reminds me of shooting the AK all the time.

I have picked up several Geissele triggers sub 200 on sale.
Several in the 159 range but that was several years back.
They are my go to for most builds.
That or roll your own with the JP springs and tune a quality trigger. Like CMMG.

@Mr.Gadget can you or someone else point me in the direction of the appropriate Geissele trigger? With Christmas coming maybe I can upgrade the trigger in my other AR. They all seem the same to me other than being curved vs flat

I like flat for bench or hunting. Curved for normal use.
With their triggers you need to look at the pull.
They can be a single, 2 stage or hybrid.
The SSA-E will fit most. The S3G has a different and lighter tune.
I have been signed up with them for the E sales and they have had killer sales beating any of the shops buying direct.

What’s the purpose of the gun?
I have a Geissele National Match trigger that 95% of folk accidentally drop the hammer when they engage the trigger. The SSA-E not so.

So I just put the larue trigger in what I would consider my more precision build, 18in bcm upper with lpvo.
The next ar to get a trigger upgrade would be my more duty/HD gun
