Trigger upgrade

Wanting to upgrade the trigger in my AR. Budget is sub $200 so Geissele is out of budget unless I go with the G2S trigger they offer. I haven't upgraded triggers often so unsure what is best. What are your experiences and opinions?
PSA has a rise armament trigger on sale for $99
Is that worth it or is there something better for the money?

Black friday is right around the corner

So I just put the larue trigger in what I would consider my more precision build, 18in bcm upper with lpvo.
The next ar to get a trigger upgrade would be my more duty/HD gun

For a non precision use, I’d go single stage:

I run one of their 2-stages in a Centurion Arms build and REALLY like it. I actually like it more than the Larue 2 stage I had. Both are good for the money but the Centurion is a hidden gem

I went with the SSA-E 10+ years ago. There are many more options available these days.
I have a CMC in a ‘truck gun’.

PSA recently had CMT for $99 and Giesselle SSA-E for $149. I haven’t installed my SSA yet but CMT is great on 2 guns.

$10 JB spring kit goes a long way and as stated above PSA’s polished trigger isn’t bad at all especially with a spring upgrade.

I have also used the grip set screw mod with great success on several ARs while I saved for a full upgrade. Need to be careful tho but if done properly works wonders.

An SSA-E for $150 is a deal.
I thought there were light primer strike issues with the lightened spring kits. That isn’t anything I’d want to gamble my life on.

I've never had a light strike with spring swap including in a M&P 15-22. But yes - duty use reliability trumps trigger lb.
Maybe the 41 primers are hard enuf to cause issues; I have never used them.

Could not pass this up; daily deal not in effect any more but periodically they have sales:

SSA-E would be a good one for that.
Also the CMC.

Only problem with the CMC....
They are great and I own 10 to 12 of them. They require tools to service, clean and work on. They are a trigger pack. It works or not. If not return. Not much you can service or work on with them.
For a run and gun or truck gun I want a trigger I can easily remove for cleaning and or service in the field no tools needed.

@Mr.Gadget can you or someone else point me in the direction of the appropriate Geissele trigger? With Christmas coming maybe I can upgrade the trigger in my other AR. They all seem the same to me other than being curved vs flat
If you order ANYTHING on the black Friday G sale expect it to take 5 months before receiving the product.

Honestly it's bad, it's always bad and has been for years but products are dropped by 40% or 50% for the sale.

Never experienced that.
Not one time from them.

That was the case for PSA when I used them several times.

Have you ordered on Black Friday?

There are about a dozen threads on Reddit about it. It took 6 months to get my 2019 black Friday order. It happens every year lol

About every year for the past 5 years.
Pick up a few triggers and tools.
Ordered on several other big sales also.

Dang you've gotten lucky then. Personal friend used to work for billy about 6 years ago and some of the guys are still there. He texted them trying to see wtf was up with my order and he said everything was behind. Might have been because I ordered a bunch of randomness that is outsourced

Could be.
But it is the same for ATF.
All the sites saying they were waiting 10 to 12 months and some longer.

My first 5 cans were back in an average 3 to 5 months.
Later on I have a batch approval of 3 and 2 were 3 month range and the other was 4.5 months.

I dont think I have ever had a can take longer than 7 to 8 ish range.

Jeez my first and only NFA item was 10 months iirc

Nevermind over a year for me lol

There was a guy here like a year ago selling a ton of Larues. Which mbt model was it?

I run the HIPERFIRE two stages in my DMR and PRS gas guns. They are really good feeling triggers to me.

LaRue. All day, any day.

If you are still wanting a HIPERFIRE let me know. I shoot/sell for them and can get them a little cheaper than MSRP. Also, I have a CMC 2.5lb flat face if you want one. Probably 100 to you.

Well since yall reviving this old thread , I did get a larue and a ssa-e
…and I ordered another AR this week, along with another EPT. 😎

That’s a good price on a CMC. If I had the scratch I would go with HIPERFIRE.

I just put a 2 stage Wilson Combat TTU in mine. It's the 4 pound match/duty model. It's pretty nice. Got it for $150 on Grab-a-gun. Decent price.

I’ve got a Wilson Duty trigger in my IWI. Takes standard pins, half cock notch style safety, very crisp, great trigger, just a bit heavy for my liking.

I just did a trigger job on my 358.
I bought a 5 pack of those hollow grip screws with the set screw in the middle. I also got some reduced power springs.
I polished and stoned the mil spec parts, then installed and adjusted the take up grip screw along with the reduced power springs.
The end result is a very crisp 2# 12oz single stage trigger.
