Video-Drunk driver on Hwy 601 into Concord

I'd have been tempted to pit maneuver that dipsh!t for the safety of the public!

Thank goodness he/she pitted themselves without anybody getting hurt. No sympathy for a drunk driver whatsoever.

They lived. A motorist stopped and rendered aid and they went by ambulance to the horspittal. They were driving toward help. And they almost ran thru the Rocky river guardrail and did a darwin award entry

none.

I didnt hear the guy on the phone with dispatch, did he make the call?
Who knows. In that part of the county you cant get a cell signal even with verizon

Followed one like that home one night from Durham. Dude launched his car at least 30 feet in the air, somehow landed, and kept going before parking in the middle of the 751 and hwy 64 intersection and just sat there. Wife was on the phone relaying his position to the troopers till he finally stopped.

Had the dukes of hazard playing in my head the rest of the way home.

I've driven a truck for years and usually working early morning or late nights. I've seen, and followed way too many of them. Usually I can relay a position and direction, but generally can't follow them till the cops get there in a truck. One of my most frustrating issues will calling these in is the lack of joint cooperation in getting theses idiots off the road. I've been run around, passed along, or just plain stuck in an area with no cops to respond. It's frustrating.

And that's the best ending I can think of to that situation outside of them deciding to park it and call a ride.

Just showed this to my 15 yo daughter too and went through what to do and what not to do. Thanks for the vid.

That settles it... I'm getting a dashcam.
I've been seriously thinking about getting one. Last Friday I was on 64 near Siler City getting on to 421. This idiot, who just previously had to get in front of me merging in from the left lane, suddenly pulls out of the straight lane and into the turning lane forcing me to stop, hard. It wouldn't have been a case of me failing to control, but her pulling out right into traffic but a dash cam would probably have been required to prove it.

Years ago in New Year's Eve we put a drunk guest to bed who decided to leave in the middle of the night. He set off our house alarm, his truck alarm, and our car alarm in the process. I couldn't find a non emergency number and just called 911 and reported him with a description and direction, which was a wise precaution against liability should he have killed someone. He didn't show up to work for three days and when he did, he was enrolled in rehab. I bet he got caught.

Might as well buy two when you do. As soon as you get one facing forward, you're going to want one facing rear too.

Pretty sure @Qball has some good experience with dashcams if my memory serves me. I *think* I remember a good thread on it. My apologies Qball if I am wrong...

Yep. You are correct. I had a thread about this lady pulling out right in front of me and when I changed lanes to avoid her, she went clear over into the lane I was heading for.

I wondered the same.
It was two of them, likely 2 cell phones.
Someone needs to call the police and inform of situation.

Ive driven in some pretty remote places, ones far more remote than that one looked, and I dont see how they wouldnt have signal there

I wasnt that shocked by the video - ok, on the left side, hits two guardrails, driving all over the place - and then came the finale...WHOA.

Watched video on yt, apparently they did call first

Pretty scary, glad no one else was hurt. Not sure how you could be that drunk and still be functional. And I have done my share of drinking, just not while driving.

I've done MY share of drinking also, while at home!! Never tried driving after drinking, maybe I'd be a better driver???? Naw, I'm as good as I'm going to get......

BTW, this video is now on channel 3 news.....

So where's the East German judge???

I work on that road, less than a mile from where that video started. I get zero AT&T signal so Ikarus is right
Well, this answered my question. I was wondering why I didn't hear the driver calling 911 and asking for the Highway Patrol, NOW!.

yeah we can armchair this, but to what point... oh well.. your video did a service, thank you, but I'm pretty sure I would have *HP this ass after just a bit of video 'proof'

it will amaze you how fast response can occur
About 2000 i had a ford about clip me on I85 north of Salisbury... watched this fool go from one median to other... I had enough when they reached the 'old' bridge across the yadkin...
*hp, was on phone with them with description and plate# they told me to keep safe distance and take no chances....

There was the 'split' above Bills... was on phone and informed them he went i85 business.. dispatcher said patrolman was about 6 miles away...
I followed and car, it took green needles exit, then left on old 29.. I lost distance from the car until i saw it turn off tyro road.. at that point dispatcher said patrol was at west center st (lex bbq) and on the way...
was not long after they told me patrol was turning on tyro road, and I told them what car I was in... so he did not think of nabbing ME....
at the end of this road it 'tees' with a left or right turn possible only...
that patrol car went by me in a blur... and there was no hesitation as he made a right turn (think the plate was run to a residence address)...
I signed off and let em go at it.. never really found out what happened.....

*hp works.

I was in high school, went to go see a friend, his GF, and I had a blind date. His GF dad is a state trooper, very strict guy. Anyways I always got her home by curfew and he liked me, hated my friend dating his daughter lol. We got behind a drunk on the way back, I got the tag numbers, we got back to her house and gave him the information, he called it in, the guy wrecked about 3 miles from there house. We was actually 10 mins late getting back and that was the reason why, but he was understanding and didn't mind since we was safer

He gets a 7/10 for airtime

Only a 3/10 for the landing. It sucked

Ida been on the phone instead of the camera and had nothibg to show for it.

How much does a decent one run?

I'd be interested in one that records if the car is hit in a parking lot also and separate storage not to be overwritten if a collision happens

If you start a new thread on them, tag me please

And A+ for actually catching the ending. Most people are too busy jumping up and down or whatever to get the good part. :O) You video 5 minutes of driving around just to botch the happy ending. Clearly you arent a rookie. Well done.
