That’s the great thing about Vortex. No BS, no 20 questions, you return it and they’ll fix or replace it.

    Keep us updated.

Vortex stands with you not behind their optics. You will not be disappointed.

he probably missed the note in the directions stating to use a large pipe wrench with the cheater handle..... Hate to see it go sideways for him. Reading directions is critical.

Vortex is great to deal with. I only had my scope two days dropped it when mounting it. Called them to see how much to have it fixed. They said send it to them and they would let me know. Sent it out and two weeks later had the scope back. To this day I do not know if they fixed mine or sent me a brand new one. Works great though.

    So, the situation was this...
the carbine had been in my truck for a couple days before I was able to sneak out to the range. It had been 90*+, so considerably warmer inside the vehicle. I suspect the loctite simply melted. NOT a great design in my opinion. I didn't apply any excess torque at all, simply went to move 6 clicks 'up' to get a zero. Those clicks felt 'spongy' with no tactile/audible clicks, so I ran it back down to its current zero and tried again. It DID click on the way down. The 2nd or 3rd time I tried to adjust is when it gave way.

Bad design in my opinion. You'd think that if they needed to use loctite, they'd make those threads left-hand. The probability of someone needing to quickly dial in 'up' adjustment, and therefore applying more torque than required, is far greater than those needing to dial back down to zero. So, make the turret screw in the other way so over zealous 'up' adjustments aren't unscrewing the damn thing.

UPS says they'll deliver it to Vortex today. I'm confident they'll glue it back in place and return it. I didn't do that myself because I don't know how/if the erector mechanism would be effected.

It possible, it looks like they used the paste Loctite 248- Melting Point, >65°C (149°F)

The liquid blue Loctite 242 has a service temp up to 300°F (149°C)

Unlike Vortex, that American made ADM you have it mounted in will never fail you ;)

Good luck with your warranty claim/repair. I'm sure they will fix it. I'm just leary and always have been from my "mission critical" days when the first thing out of a vendor's mouth is "We have a really great service department".

    Wow,

three people talking in one topic about how great the warranty is from Vortex...

    I call that a clue.

Then how @Tim 's optic broke is not good at all for a firearm one might depend on.

Yup it's a clue that Vortex sells a lot of optics and also stands behind their customer if there is an issue. Says nothing more unless you try and read into it to fit a certain hating agenda. Vortex sells a lot of optics from very cheap to $2500. They sell A LOT! I know their return rate and it's nothing more than other companies. You just hear more about the warranty work as people are happy to be treated well.

I have a lot of respect for you and what you have done. I have to how ever disagree with you here. Don't slap a cheap/budget chicom optic on a rifle you need to "depend on" is probably a better option.... I have dealt personally with warranty departments from about every major player in the game. Vortex was far and away the easiest... Don't get me started on leupold or bushnell for warranty work... Please share what optic maker you feel is better. Lets please not compare a $400-1000 scope to a $2500 scope....

Uhm. I dropped the scope on cement my fault completely nothing to do with the quality of the scope. They stood tall and either repaired/replaced at no expense to my shaky hands. Yea I give them high grades!!!

Yup that's the part of the warranty that people forget about also when reading stories about their customer service. Drop it from a tree stand, run it over accidentally, gets burnt in a house fire? All covered. Accidents happen and it's good to know they will take care of you.

Well, I truly cannot complain about the service. They received the scope Weds, and I have a scope back in hand exactly 1 week later. They say the problem was ring screw having been over torqued causing damage to the scope body. Could be, I bought the scope used and already mounted the ADM QD mount.

They replaced with what appears to be a NIB PST 1-4x24 TMCQ reticle. I don't know if it's truly NIB or a refurb.

I'm going to hold off mounting this one whilst contemplating putting it in the BST area.

Yup. Glad to hear that they did you right. My experience with them was great also. Glad you have a working scope now.
