Wagram-Midsouth Visit

Dangit, I can't make it Monday. Figures!

Damn sorry I'm going to miss this as I will be in Aiken on Monday.
Enjoy yourselves.

What is T&J's?
A restaurant about 1/2 mile up Main from Mid South ... best burgers! The Philly Cheese egg rolls are addicting. It ain’t fancy but you’ll never go to Mid South again and NOT GO TO T&J’s!

I've lived here since 1997, how did I miss that? Is it in the gas station near the (new-ish) church, on the left going north?
We did have a BBQ place across from Mid South, but that got creamed by something massive a while ago and is still kaput.
Other than that and Nic's, I didn't know we had much here, food-wise.

Yeah, inside the Circle K gas ...

I won’t walk into a gun shop or music shop and ask to handle anything I can’t afford, unless they just put it in my hands.

When a small restaurant gets hit with something massive, it's usually unpaid payroll and/or sales taxes.

It looked to me like what my grandfather referred to as a “Going out of business fire”. :(

When I first noticed it was damaged, I saw some wide skid marks going up to the curb, so I just figured a big truck hit the corner of the building.

There's nothing in those shops you can't afford.
A man’s got to know his limitations, and a brand new Harley Davidson was mine in August. Hadn’t bought a gun since then, and sold three since.

The trip was of course worth the 4 hour round trip. @gunbelt , @Millie , and @Etruett joined me there. There was money spent and treasures bought. I brought home a 4 inch Anaconda. The store was startling, the sales of 40 guns a day have taken tole. Now you can actually See every gun in the store, This was impossible earlier this year. Usually handguns are stacked 3 and 4 Deep in the counters. Now ech can be seen on it's side.
Not much time to visit, everybody busy making sales. Phillip ends up making each person he comes in contact with feel like he is The most important person in the room. Whether there is a deal to be struck or not, everybody parts Pards.
I handled a Colt 1878 the same caliber as the one I recently traded for except this one was Perfect in every respect and 100% engraved with checkered Ivory stocks. Alas, it is still there, resting in the Not For Sale display.......It knows I'll be back.....The lined Colt presentation box it was in was probably worth a thousand dollars. Hmmmmm, I can see it even now.........

With maybe a half dozen exceptions This^^^is exactly why I buy guns...other stuff comes along and trades are made...sometimes it for other items and sometimes it for money to buy other items. I understand this trade perfectly, some guns turned into a Motosickle. Sounds perfect to me!!!

I’m going into DT’s. Haven’t bought a gun from a Philip in close to a month. Feel bad going into a place Like his 2-3 times a week and walking away empty handed.

I was embarrassed about the 1878 and I could see he saw it, and yet he was all smiles and then sold me a gun!!!

Phillip is a dealer in Blued Steel and Wood Crack.

I need to go again soon.

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe a Harley would be cheaper for me in the long run.

Rumor has it there’s another Marbell in Harnett county who has one you can just borrow.

When my Dad was still alive and able, all three Marbells would make the trek from Erwin to Wagram, a little over an hour each way. Every time I go in there I'm saying, "Damn, look at this!" They seem to attract some odd guns, maybe on trades. For example for a long time there was a Browning Recoilless single barrel trap gun on the rack. It was rare enough that I called my trap shooting buddy, older and not shooting much while back home in Chicago, and asked him what it was worth. He talked me out of buying it because parts are hard to get so if it broke it would likely never shoot again unless a smithy could manufacture the parts.

The collection of Browning A5s and Winchester Model 12s is a sight to behold. I once counted over 70 of each on the right hand wall.

I bought at least two new sporting clays shotguns from them - one off the rack and one shipped in if I recall right. I've had to stay away for my own financial health.

fieldgrade is walking out on to the thin ice talking like that.
A fine motor scooter like that could probably be rented for at least $300 an hour. $150 an hour just to crank it up and listen to it idle.
😁
