Actual paperwork? What paperwork is required to sell a gun private party?
None as field grade said and in my book the 2nd amendment gives a law abiding citizen that right for any firearm anywhere in this country. What paperwork is required to sell a gun private party?
If you wanna talk requirements…Long gun, verify they live in the same state as you and you have no reason to believe they are otherwise prohibited
Handgun, verify they live in the same state as you and have a valid PPP (NC) or a CHP
No paperwork is required. Anyone requiring any hates freedom
Concealed handgun permitWhat is a CHP? Sorry , never purchased private party before.
Concealed handgun permit. In NC if you have one and buy from a dealer they don't have to do the background check so a lot of folks get it just for that. A lot of us like to do a bill of sale or some other transactional record (like a bill of sale) just in case the buyer turns out to be shady making it a bit easier to document where the gun went should it ever be traced but that's not required. What is a CHP? Sorry , never purchased private party before.
Nonsense. There’s no law to back that up for a non-FFL.
I didn’t say it was required, I said it was a good idea.Nonsense. There’s no law to back that up for a non-FFL.
You posted a snippet from the Wake Co website that said (highlighted) it was a misdemeanor to sell a gun without obtaining a pistol permit from the recipient.I didn’t say it was required, I said it was a good idea.
Hopefully your written comprehension skills of law books is better than your written comprehension skills of forum posts!
Un-wad your panties. Post true and lawful snippets. Not some of what you read from an entity that has no bearing of the law.I didn’t say it was required, I said it was a good idea.

This is not required under state law, is there a county ordinance? I will say that the highlighted text is confusing as it would make things like gun “buybacks“ or even turning over a firearm to a LEO a violation of whatever code they are referring to. It looks like an unsupported, and incorrect, conclusion, but if you think it’s right then please tell me why so I’ll know not to ignore it when in Wake county.
I stand correctedIf you wanna talk requirements…
There’s actually no requirement for you to verify they have a valid PPP or CHP. The law only says the buyer has to obtain one, so it’s on the buyer to be legal to purchase. 😎
Personally I think people are free to make whatever stipulations in private transactions they wish to. If the buyer does not agree they don’t have to buy.If your NC resident and not a felon your GTG. Anyone wanting anything else is making a registry that they would gladly hand over to da man.
The Gov loves people that will sell other law abiding citizens out. People that ask for more have a liberal streak through them. They believe the gun is the issues not the person using it.
nobody here is going to disagree with that statement.Personally I think people are free to make whatever stipulations in private transactions they wish to. If the buyer does not agree they don’t have to buy.
This was so much better said than what I had typed out.nobody here is going to disagree with that statement.
we will vehemently disagree with people posting, like you did, that there is some requirement to do more than is required.
and we'll say bad things about your character, often in the members-only BST thread. because we're free to do that just as you're free to set ridiculous restrictions on sales
I simply posted a screen shot and link to the wake.gov website (you know ACTUAL verifiable facts, not “that’s not what the law says” post from some internet expert “) . All my post illustrates is that Wake county website says it is a misdemeanor.we will vehemently disagree with people posting, like you did, that there is some requirement to do more than is required.
If you have any information to the contrary it would be helpful to all to post it along with links for us to review.
That screenshot from my county’s website is blatantly false on multiple levels.I simply posted a screen shot and link to the wake.gov website (you know ACTUAL verifiable facts, not “that’s not what the law says” post from some internet expert “) . All my post illustrates is that Wake county website says it is a misdemeanor.

Everyone on here agrees with your statement there 1000%. The guy asked what is required not our opinions of what is needed.Personally I think people are free to make whatever stipulations in private transactions they wish to. If the buyer does not agree they don’t have to buy.
