Looks like the perfect beater to me. Low miles and reliable. No care about door dings and what not.

Oxyclean and a pressure washer(low pressure tip) for carpets. I believe @Burt Gummer went through similar.

Folks love those ozone generators for bad smelling cars. Only drawback I’ve read is they can degrade plastic trim.
Yep. I love that ozone machine. Run it for an hour with the car and ac running to circulate through the ducts. Then roll yer windows down for half a day to let it air out

Buying a 2008 Toyota Camry 4cyl from my cousin. 91K miles on it. It has been parked for the last 3 years. She bought another Toyota. She parked it because it needed brakes. She's a pack rat. Lots of trash inside and in the trunk. A gallon of milk was left in the trunk and it leaked. Terrible smell. A couple of dogs tried to get one of her cats and dented the passenger door, pulled out a couple of wires, pulled the fender liner out, and mauled the passenger side front bumper. It also has the sticky/melting dash the 2006-2011 Toyota/Lexus are known for. Some dents here and there. Needs work but for the price, it's a steal. My wife cleaned it out yesterday and started cleaning the inside. I picked up a front bumper, passenger fender with liner, pigtail for the wiring, door handle cap, and two hubcaps today. The rear bumper and hood need painting. Need to pick up a spare tire cover and trunk carpet (It looks nice but smells terrible). It's going to be a project but it should last a long time once I am finished.

Nice! Bit of work should go a long way.

I've stories of my '87 Celebrity I got back from my first wife during our separation to match the disgusting part of your milk story...

Like sh!++y diapers stuck to the floorboards for who knew how long level of disgusting.

Part of my clean up efforts involved removing all the seats, pulling the carpet out, scrubbing everything repeatedly until it flushed clean, soaking in vinegar water, scrubbing and rinsing clean again, then soaking in baking soda water before yet another scrubbing and rinsing.

Took an entire weekend just for that.

When I drove the 860 mile trip from Lafayette Indiana back to Charleston SC, it was with all four windows down the entire way.

And then, because I didn't trust that b!+@# one bit, I had base security give the car the once over with their drug dog (no hits).

This happening in the trunk is a blessing, really. Easy to pull the liner and cardboard thingies out and simply replace. And the scrubbing is limited to the painted metal underneath.

Let us know how it turns out.

I’m going to be pulling the seats the next day I have off. I plan on cleaning under the back seat good then cleaning the seats and trunk area.

I bought this steamer as well. I love it. The harbor freight one is cheaper. If the car is that nasty, I would explore this just for sanitary purposes

Which steamer? I didn’t see a link.

I have the same one in the up right version and really like it. Have found a variety of uses for it.

@DrScaryGuy thats some wild wear on those pads. Hope you either got new or cleaned all the clips and slides and got it all greased up good. Last set of pads i saw like that had a stuck piston that wasnt retracting and cooked a set of pads and a rotor.

I hate plugging tires but seems to be a necessity in Charlotte.

Yeah...what @BloodRunsThicker said.

Pull those glide pins out, clean the bejeebers out of them and regrease them.

And make sure the slides are installed properly. You wouldn't think it would be possible to screw them up, but I've seen it.

Got off work and drove to Pikeville to buy one off of Facebook marketplace. New in box for $30!

Bought a completely non practical vehicle. 35s locked front and rears 1 ton steering. Interior is super clean. Little bit of rust on the fenders. Drives decent considering what it’s built for. Just need to find some bumpers and rock sliders then give her hell on the weekends. My oldest just got his license so it’ll be his to drive during the week.

PLEASE install an assault rifle jack mount on the hood!

And if you really want to make that unique, make it a lug-nut-belt-fed jack!

Friendly reminder to change your oil 🤣🤣
Wow, I used to buy and fix cars that were neglected, got a '85 Dodge Omni 2.2L, when draining the oil nothing would come out,
it did not run at all, dropped the pan and what was left of the oil was like thick pudding! It had a Group 1 off brand filter, did not feel right,
I cut it open and it had no filter media inside. Funny thing is the car was cared for at the local garage. Replaced all the bearings and rings, it ran like a top afterwards.

Man that brings back memories! I had a Dodge Omni 024 which was the 2 door fastback.

Had a lot of fun in that car
1989 I got another one, 024 hatchback 5 speed, 1985 the cyl head was in the hatch area, the guy did not put antifreeze in it, I slapped a spare used head on it, new timing belt and it started right up, added a can of Prestone stop leak, the white powder stuff, I drove it three years until the clutch wore out and then did an engine swap with a salvage, ended up putting 300K on it, it had 75K on it when I got it for $450.

Got off work early yesterday. Got the front passenger fender replaced and fender liner installed. Got the front bumper off. I cleaned and painted the front passenger rim while it was off the other day. Will do the same for the rest. New rotors on front and new brakes front and back.

I have been working on making an out feed/assembly table for my garage. I found some plans from a YouTuber that allows you to build two 2’x4’ benches on casters that will lock together and make one 4’x4’ bench or one 2’x8’ bench with one sheet of plywood, 13 2x4x8 and some screws. I have adjustable casters on the way from Amazon and I’ll build the matching bench this week. I think I will like this. It’s small but big enough and sturdy. I can load one or both on my truck and take it to a job and leave it for the duration. I have my table saw mounted on a French cleat with a leg coming off since the saw is so heavy. I don’t have my height on the saw set perfect I still have tweaking to do. I think I can make the plywood the saw is sitting on adjustable with threaded rod and nuts and level/plane the deck of the saw with the bench like you would flushing up a router table insert. I should be able to come up with a way to mount my bench planer and router table to the table so it’s easy and quick to set up and take down F08E9358-07A3-4366-8B9F-07395E306F5A.jpeg770D4292-5C00-4898-A64A-D82865717B7F.jpeg

I'm all in on this engine swap now. Going to see if it's a simple swap.
It took a few hours. Started by labeling wiring and hoses with tape.
O5qm7FJ.jpg

Then it was a matter of disconnecting a ton of stuff and lifting the chassis away from the sub frame.
All out.

Sub frame with old engine still in it along with the crate engine with turbo.

Cleaned up some, organized, added a 5-shelf metal rack to get stuff off of the floor.
Making some room to build a workbench this week.
Also, ordered some locking casters off of Amazon, will buy wood tomorrow and start creating!

I set my saw about 1/16" higher than the outfeed table. Longer pieces just glide off the saw
That’s what I was going for. I kept ending up too high or just low enough to catch on the edge If the table. I ended up flush and thought good enough.

Right now it is only held on with a couple few crown staples I can tap it up a hair before I screw it off if I need to.

Got off work yesterday and took the back rims off and painted them. Will put the hubcaps on in the next day or so. Both front fenders and the front bumper replaced. Let the ozone machine run this morning. My wife rolled the windows down at lunch. I will have to replace the turn signal/windshield wiper combination switch. Wife already said the radio needs replacing to connect the phone. Picking up an Android radio with car play when I get off work.
