It’s really fat, over an inch diameter under the handguard. It’s a DPMS 1/9, 16”.

And for comparison with the BA middy that will replace it.

why are you removing it............?
I got a good deal on the rifle (never fired DPMS police trade-in) and I want to use it for a lightweight project with a pinned 14.5” midlength. At least that was the plan. As of now the barrel nut is not moving… I am hoping I can remove it without wrecking the A2 upper that I really like.

Thanks. It may actually just stay on as it is just not bulging so far. I need to borrow an upper vise block.

I have a block and a reaction rod you can use
@Tim is closer but I also have those if you need.

Let me know you're going to part with that barrel.

Also, I think it's a bull barrel profile. Heavier/thicker than an HBAR profile

in your picture, i see you are vising the upper near the carry handle...............is that how you are attempting to remove the barrel?

No, that was just to apply heat to the barrel nut.

@Tim to the rescue:

I had it soaking in liquid wrench all night and did a couple more heat cycles this morning. Once I got the upper vise it came right off (still quite a bit of torque though).

I checked the weights. The HBAR/bull/fatty is over 500g more than the one that’s replacing it (over a pound).

HBAR as some mentioned seems right, what's the gas block size .750 or .850?
There are so many words used Bull Barrel, Heavy Barrel, Varmint, etc.
have several different barrels, some with .850 / .936 gas blocks rifle
length gas tubes

This one is weird. It’s a rifle cut, not M4 feed ramps.

Edit: .980” at the fatest, .750” under the gas block, and .725” forward of the gas block to the flash hider. 16”, carbine gas. No idea on the gas port size.

Anyway:
