What do you interpret from this sign? (regarding legally concealed handguns)

What do you interpret from this sign?

That it is a park, paid for and maintained by taxpayer dollars…not private property.

“Rules” and “regulations” that place undue/unnecessary burden upon free people, with regard to their exercise of a natural right, were made to be and should be broken at every opportunity.

Today was the first time I’ve seen that sign, but I’ve driven past it many times after breakfast at the Red Barn.

Plus in the same town, there is this sign on the front door of the liquor store. “NO Firearms”
Surprising since I’ve never known any other state ABC board store to be posted. But this is one is co-owned with the town.

I was in a newly opened ABC store. I asked whether they had issues with firearms. Their answer, “Our no firearms decal hasn’t arrived yet”.

Every ABC store here is posted.

Every ABC store here is posted.
There’s one in Fuquay, not posted and the two I frequented in Cary were not posted, shockingly, but I moved from there three years ago.

Are the state ABC board stores run county by county?

I do believe so. State licenses each County board and that entity decides how many, locations, etc.

As far as the original question goes...screw that sign. The State Legislature made statewide firearm uniformity their domain. Then the legislature went on to say where cities and counties could post signage...and absent very specific criteria, recreational areas was not one of them.

Thanks. My attitude is, like a couple of folks above, I can’t read, but I’m never clear on when I’m just infracting, or committing felonies (educational property, government buildings, etc, etc.)

I think that sign is an attempt to skirt the law saying we can carry there and trying to circumvent the law saying they can’t post it.

They are hoping the sign will convince most law abiding people it’s prohibited but if challenged they will say “that’s not what the sign means. Clearly if you have a chp then your firearm is authorized.”

By the way, the is the next small farming town one county over from Raleigh that’s in the process of being over run by transplants.
No offense to transplants.

If they don’t have metal detectors I could care less what their sign says
Just remember that the consequences aren’t always the same. Some are infractions, some are felonies. Not saying what you should or shouldn’t do, but just be sure you’ve considered the risk/rewards tradeoff.

Dont remember the actual location, I just remember this same signage discussion on here a few years ago.
Truthfully, I dont even bother with reading any signage anymore. If there isn't a metal detector, I don't care.

Edit: You posted the above while I was typing, and I agree. One should know what theyre getting into.
I wont carry on post when I go for Reserve Duty, but other than that, I dont care 99% of the time.

The way I read the sign is that "authorized firearms" are okay (e.g. weapons concealed with NCCHP), and that unauthorized firearms are okay if they are not concealed (not "Other Concealed Weapons').

The Town of Angier is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items or liable for any accident or injury to persons or property from the use of the park.
The Town of Angier is not responsible for damages to vehicles. (which obviously are not property - see above)
The Town of Angier cannot produce an understandable sign.

Winston-Salem tried to challenge this a few ways for greenways and maybe a few parks for various reasons, school usage and "athletic facilities" come to mind all fell.
Never seen an ABC store not posted.

Whenever I see a sign like that, (and honestly it's rare anymore..I avoid those places) my first reaction is just what the hell goes on in here? I mean look at it. It reads like you're about to walk into an open prison yard. They just left off the no killing and no raping part.

Asheville tried that with one of their parks. GRNC got wind of it, served Asheville a warning to get rid of it 'cause state law ya know, and Asheville took it down.
Regardless of your personal hang-ups with GRNC, they do a crap ton of butt kicking in this state.

It always boils down to democrats. They genuinely believe that their viewpoints are 'for the best' and the law becomes moot and we're just gonna make up feel good nonsense and put it on a sign.
Then someone has to send in the Mother Superior and have her slap their knuckles with the ruler and they retreat simpering and whimpering back into the weird kid section of the playground where the goths and the other freaks hang out.

The item right above the “No Firearms” say “No Cellphones” … bet they do not enforce that one!

Until assimilated, offense to transplants.

My take:

No drinking alcohol, only alcoholic enemas or IVs.
Free Parking from sunrise to sunset.
You can bring all the lions, tigers, bears, feral cats and dogs you want.
All of the park is authorized to the public.
No firearms barred from import into the USA or concealed melee weapons.
Take your LSD and Ketamine before entering the park.
Graffiti artists can tag anything IF it can considered artistic.
Trash must be burned, bring your own 55 gallon barrel.
No spontaneous fun allowed. You must plan to have fun while in the park.
Your profanity must be proper instead of vulgar slang.

As far as I know, our ABC store here in N Davidson county is not posted. If it is, it's not conspicuous, and thus, not up to code.

Doesn’t NC have a preemption statute? That sign means nothing wrt legal CC. my 2c
