Have some extra cash and looking for a new handgun to spend it on. No specific purpose. If it's like most of my recent acquisitions it'll probably just sit in the safe with the occasional fondling. Would like something sub $1000, 9mm, all metal and hammer fired. Already have CZs, Beretta 92s, S&W 3rd gens and 1911s. Maybe a Sig 226 or 229? Tell me what I'm looking for.

Only you can answer that question. Don't let someone else dictate to you on what to buy.
 
From your post yes I would look to some sort of sig.

Should've added no revolvers. Want to love them but just can't. Thought the SA High Power clone was going to be next but apparently people think they're Unobtainium. I'll have to wait until the newness wears off and maybe the prices will come down to reasonable levels.

I’ll pile on with the others in favor of a P226. I’m not sure how a handgun collection could be complete without one. Accurate, reliable, built like a tank, tons of aftermarket parts to accessorize with. Maybe find a used Legion model that already has all the bells and whistles ?
 
I would look at one of the new SA35 Hi Powers. P226 is always a good option too

I have 2 all steel frame single action guns I could be talked out of: 1) P226 SAO, 2) CZ 75 B SA. I love them but I don't need the safety factor in competition shooting.

Real FN/Browning BHPs can be had for less than $1000 in excellent to LNIB condition if you are patient and know where to look.

OP is looking for a metal framed 9mm. Never seen a 41 shoot 9mm. LOL

I haven’t had it long, haven’t even shot it yet but I really like how the Beretta 92X feels. I watched a lot a YouTube reviews on it and fondled it quite a bit before purchasing.

I’m gonna go not just outside the box … I’m going outside the warehouse … a Benjamin Pellet Pistol!


A .22 caliber pellet pistol that is an 8 shoot bolt action squirrel getter! It’s fun ... accurate … quiet … cheap to shoot … not many people have one … and did I mention it was fun to shoot?

I have my eye on a crosman 2240xl. Add a silencer and shoot all day in the backyard for pennies. 👍
