WTF Covid

Well my granddaughter just came back from the Dr's and it looks like they are up in the air as to when the issues with the random tachycardia and randomly elevated BP will end since she is now of the prednisone. They had thought these symptoms were possibly a side effect of some of the meds she was on but now they are leaning to this being Covid related. She is still running the occasional fever and having headaches and nausea but at least the fever spikes are staying in the low fever range now. So we will continue treatments at home and she is to remain out of school, that will be reassessed next week. What is surprising is that with 6 of us in the house, 2 other grandchildren (age 2 & 7), my daughter who's not vaccinated, my son-in-law and I who are both vaccinated, no one has shown any symptoms or tested positive since the granddaughter brought it home. But we have made Lysol and other disinfectant makers richer in the past few weeks.

Well granddaughter was poked, prodded and annoyed by the Drs again today to try and figure out why, since she is over covid and off all medicines, why a normally healthy and active child is still having the elevated blood pressure with a pulse pressure greater than 50 to 60 mm Hg, tachycardia in the 130 to 160 bpm ranges, shortness of breath and what they think are headaches caused by the high blood pressure. So far they have been able to determine there is no noted damage or swelling to her heart or lungs but they still can't explain why she's having these issues. They have had her on monitors and been able to replicate these symptoms by walking short distances, rising to stand from seated position or stepping up and down a few steps and then sitting or laying down. The good news is that when she's resting/limiting her activity her vital signs stay within normal limits. The problem is she's an 11yr old who likes to play softball and wants to do cheerleading this year at school but the Drs are telling us she can't do anything that will cause her to exert herself, no gym class, no sports, basically no strenuous activity at all. She goes back at the end of Oct for another follow-up probably at Levine Childrens Hospital.

I'm no doctor, but that sounds very much like an issue with the endocrine system. Any thyroid panels?

I have a feeling it may be this posted based on the fact that it can be triggered in adolescents after a viral illness but I hoping it's not. POTS was the reason the DOD forced retirement on me in 2009 and it's not fun taking beta blockers daily and nitro at times just to be able to do normal things. At 11 she doesn't need that crap put on her.
