I assume you can’t use one of them in NC to avoid NICS…is that a correct assumption?
That is one reason I am keeping mine, also the federal you cant be within 1000ft of school unless you have a carry permit law is still a thing and since i work at a school I cant risk it.Done. I plan on keeping my CHP just for reciprocity if I go to Myrtle beach or something...
I took a CCW class recently, and I'm terrified. I absolutely agree with constitutional carry (and I signed)- but the yahoo I had in my class terrifies me if he ever goes out in public. He struggled to hit an 8" target at 3 yards. And since he passed the class, I don't think CCW is adding any value- other than education on when it's allowed to use force. In my wife's CCW the woman next to her didn't know her revolver had sights on it- she ended up hitting my wife's target a few times. And she passed as well.man i hate those kind of guys
I was called for my opinion/vote at a gun rights group where they were looking at "enhanced" carry licenses. where people who had taken certain extra classes/training/etc were exempt from the gun free zone laws. I would have been exempt, no question about it.
I still voted "no" because i don't believe in special people
I also don't believe in these ccw fudds saying that people NEED to take their classes. I've taken 2 and helped teach others: there is very little useful info in the state mandated minimum training

Current thread:
I saw another post about this. I didn’t see this link on it.
I don’t think this could be posted too much anyways.
Yes, I'm glad it failed in it's current form with the training requirement addition. I made many calls and sent many emails asking for it to be done right the first time otherwise let it fail. I'm sure it didn't do any good. but I made the effort. Once the training (safety) requirement was added I think it would have been hard to get it removed.I'm still learning about politics in Raleigh. I'm quite familiar with the way things worked in a different state from having spent a lot of time fighting off their attacks on our rights. One of the good guys taught me that you didn't want to advance a bill that contained provisions you disagree with. Those things you disagree with become the opening offer from the opposition on any similar bill going forward, and you end up wasting time or political capital to fix it down the road. I'm not sure if that's what happened here.
Looking forward we have the ability to fix the voting maps and voter ID and the D vote just lost 56000 felons. It seems there may be a cleaner path to a good bill after our next election. It's quite possible that Robinson will be the guy to sign it.
The number of rounds that hit the dirt maybe 6 feet in front of the shooter(s) during my qualification back in TX was pretty mind blowing, the majority of which were older revolver owners.I took a CCW class recently, and I'm terrified. Right to my point in the other thread, the current training isn't much anyway so not needing it could not possibly make that much of a difference.I took a CCW class recently, and I'm terrified. Well…lookie there. Something the NRA said that I agree with. Strange.Spiker reportedly complained to bill sponsor Rep. Keith Kidwell, that due to the training requirement, it was no longer a “true” constitutional carry bill.
I texted him, asking him to stay out of it.Bonus round
As a bonus, if you would like to express your “appreciation” to NRA lobbyist DJ Spiker, he can be reached by phone or text at 757-575-8507 and by email at [email protected]. In order that your feedback not be misrepresented as “harassment,” be civil and phone, text or email only once.
Broken clocks are like that.Well…lookie there. Something the NRA said that I agree with. Strange.
Dude I get the pissy attitude toward NRA and Grass Roots, but damn man, who cares who gets credit for a constitutional carry bill passing? It’s almost to the point of an elementary school playground yelling match. It’s so silly that it’s making both sides look foolish. Why does Paul care who gets credit for it? If he really got it passed the folks that matter will know who was behind it. Why does Paul or the NRA have to have a who’s Johnson is bigger contest? What a joke this whole bovine fecal matter is turning into. The NRA & GRNC ( ie Paul) just want to be seen as the king ding dong and it really is hurting the overall causes more than it’s helping it.
I am not incorrect. What I said is FACT. Again, who gives a flying F@&$ who gets it passed! Paul is a self righteous pompous prick and he is good at what he does. I applaud him for his part in getting the PPP repealed, but he ain’t the only one that got it across the line so it appears to me NRA wants to be the hero and Paul also wants to be the hero rather than they both work together for the 2A. Allen Chesser, Kidwell and other legislators got the PPP repealed be it because Paul pushed it? Well, maybe, but I know for a FACT that at least one of them ran for office and got elected with the understanding he was going to to do all he could to get the PPP repel and constitutional carry passed but he also made no promises stating he was but one vote of many needed for it it happen. Is Paul a grrwt champion for the 2A in NC? Of course he is. Is he the SOLE champion and reason for the PPP repeal? No he isn’t, and that’s in no way shape or form any knock on him. We as NC gun rights enthusiasts KNOW Paul is out there via GRNC making a difference. We all know NRA isn’t. So why does Paul even waste time or effort mentioning the NrA? No one cares about them to be Frank. So no need for Paul to even stoop to their level of pettiness. It only detracts from his ability to do what he does. The point is it didn’t pass. It ain’t because Paul wanted it watered down or the NRA did or whatever. It didn’t go and it ain’t crap we can do about it to get it passed if we jsit resort to the name calling petty Betty BS that seems to be the norm when Paul doesn’t get a win. The NRA same thing. And if it does pass? Why does Paul or the NRA need to be the sole one to claim they got it passed? It’s irrelevant who did what as long as the bill passesincorrect. Paul is at the legislative office, dealing with the folks who make laws.
DJ Spiker has responsibilities for 4 states so he is NEVER at our legislature, learning the people in positions of power & where the bones are buried..🤬🙄
The NRA is corrupt & has the mindset “if we didn’t write it, it must be destroyed”...
For the class or for the permit?politics is the art of the possible. Permitless carry with training requirement is still good because you can get a CHP class in a weekend.
You *CANNOT* get a CHP, even in a good county, that quickly.
If you reside in Mecklenburg or Wake county, you will wait almost a year. Unacceptable
Permit... class be had inside of a week. probably quicker if you are willing to drive a bit.For the class or for the permit?
I haven't taken the time to read what is in the Constitutional Carry bill being proposed. Would people who already have concealed carry
permits automatically qualify to carry without having to take classes and go through the process again? Would my permit still be recognized
while I wait for the right to carry without a permit? I live in Wake County and the idea of waiting a year to be able to carry without a permit
is much longer than the wait I had for my concealed carry permit after I qualified.
