Now the '03-'04 Terminator thread -

Agreed. Here's the thing, that red '65 A code pictured is $44K and probably worth it, about five miles from me. If it was a K code in that condition it would be worth around $60K.

I cringe even at the price premium the fastbacks are getting when coupes are low $20's all day long. I just can't handle the price of a K code unless I found a driver quality coupe that I liked.

FWIW that '65 A code is only$7K more than I paid for the Boss. The new Shelby flat crank is $60K+.

Totally off my topic. Is this thing not just the bomb?

'63.5 Galaxie with a 427 ( I assume an FE side oiler) and four speed.

That is as sexy as socks on a rooster.

.
If it wasn't in Atlanta, and $60K, I'd be real interested. lol

My dad had a new 63 four door.

Sweet.....and the 427 FE is the cherry on the whip cream:D
And I am pretty sure this midyear fast back offering was partially to accommodate better aerodynamics for NASCAR, and of course the 427FE was developed to better perform in NASCAR as well if I recall.

I was never much of a NASCAR enthusiast, but to have a car with this much connection to NC race heritage would be way cool. Ralph Moody lived right up the street a hundred yards from one of my best elementary school friends, and Ralph Jr was our age.

There was a bright yaller one sitting at Clonninger Ford in Morgantown this evening when I came past. The sign said 2016 GT.

Sat in a 1965 Corvette yesterday. I don't fit. At all.

Drove 3 hours today to look at and drive a 2004 Mustang Cobra tuned to 500HP. I might have to have one of these.

If you looking at HP and to go fast, go Hellcat.

I lol'd at 500hp, simply because the 2015+ ends up around 737hp with FI.

The Foxbody Mustangs, and the 99-04's drive very similarly, and for whatever reason I much prefer them to the new GT I drove.

Just for some friendly back and forth.

On the 2015+, you have to ADD boost to get to the 500+ of the 03-04 Cobra, and that's a pretty penny. And there is no way I would trust a stock internal Coyote to last very long making more than 650hp without coming apart. I know of some making decent numbers, but they usually run race gas or E85, and have some very reputable tuner's tuning them.
Fieldgrade, check out some 05-13 Shelby GT500 Cobra's. 5.4L's of boosted power, and only a pulley change away to making some really decent power. Want more, step up to the Kenny Bell blower and supporting hardware, and safely make 800rwhp. My buddy who use to build my race motor's has an 05 Shelby with the big KB, and the damn thing put down 810 to the tires, and is docile as a pussy cat until you step on it.

Please show me where you are seeing factory internals are good for 800. Also, can you show me a build for 37k for a brand new car making 730+, with a factory warranty.

I'd take that high 6ish hp mustang @MurphyLong posted with the 36/3 powertrain warranty in a heartbeat.

$20k+ for a 13 year old car? Termi fanboys have an illness.
A 13 year old car that's worth $20k says it holds value. I've seen several modded coyote cars that don't even bring that much. Hell, I see 4cyl foxbodies bring $3k+. It's all about demand.

The stock Coyote (435hp) internals are good for over 800hp. Also, spending $37k on a brand new car with 730+hp with a factory warranty- where else can you get that?
New cars generally depreciate. My purchase wont be a daily driver, I dont drag race, and I'll probably sell it inside 2 years.

Just for argument's sake, you'd likely be able to sell a Termi for what you pay for it, maybe more by then as incompetent newbs total them and the survivor count drops. That's the supply part of the supply and demand equation. Idk total numbers off the top of my head, but less than 10k terminators built in 2 years versus 20-30k+ GTs any given year.

I tried to tell you......
There's one I've discovered in my backyard that is bone stock and under 30k miles. The guy is traveling so I can't see it till the weekend. I think his price is a little high, and his pictures are terrible, but it looks like a local two owner in excellent condition, so we'll see. With me being real close it will be easier for him to do business with me. I hope he figures that out.

What's he asking?

I was almost on the verge of taking another ride up to Appomattox VA today to look at two red terminators, but they just aren't quite what I'm after.

I've seen low mile cars go for much more than that. That said, I'd still try to talk him down a few grand.
There's an orange terminator in Hickory with real low miles where I went two days ago for $32k, and a white one that I nearly bought for 9k less, but it needs a top, and then there's the whole 6 hour round trip to deal with.

The local one is silver. Which I'm okay with. I prefer light colors.

Orange is one of the rarest colors. I wanted sonic blue, but the one I wanted sold before I could even get there.

There's a spectacular Sonic Blue here in Fuquay, but it's like $29K I think.

I've changed my thread title since I've taken the discussion totally off topic from new Mustangs to '03 and '04 Terminator Cobras

The price isn't really that high imho.
I understand. My preference (quirk, I guess) is to not buy somebody else's build, unless it's someone I know. I also prefer lighter colors, and hate to sink extra dough into my purchase for the collector value of those particular colors.

I am hoping the local one pans out but who knows what it will look like. It wasn't even washed for the pictures he posted, which seems weird to me for such a low mileage bone stock example.

I understand. I had to have one that was as stock as I could find. I wanted to do the mods so I would know exactly what and how it was done.

Exactly. I am also somewhat leery of some '03s due to head issues regarding 4 plug threads instead the updated 9 threads, and some other concerns that I am not totally clear on.
