Be careful with white gas aka Coleman fuel

Yowch, dude! Glad yer okay. I've had incidents with gas, 2-stroke fuel & fireworks, but have been lucky enough not to get for-real hurt.

Dude in my unit way back caught a green star cluster flare in the face at close range. Looked no-shit Freddy Krueger, but healed completely, with no visible scarring.

Yep just gotta keep those wounds wet clean and free of infection. "Chicks dig scars" is what my wife whispered in my ear in the hospital.

The wife and I are happy with today's progress so I feel like rewarding myself with McKenna bourbon and ginger ale.

That's a large improvement from the first pic....keep healing man! Burns suck and I think I'm going with cotton shirts only from now on.

Glad you are doing ok and on the road to recovery.
Burns are nasty, especially from flash fires and some of the worst things I could talk about.

I do have a question. Is white gas any more dangerous that regular old gas you get at the filling station? I know that you are more likely to handle containers of white gas if you use camp stoves and lanterns, but is there something in the chemical nature of white gas that makes it more treacherous?

Yes I think the vapor lingers more and is heavier than gasoline. It's actually called "naptha" and is more flammable than most other petroleum products. Thats why it works so well in pressure lanterns

I’m sure that was and is very painful. Sorry you had to go thru that but man are you fortunate that was not worse. Quick thinking on your part. Good luck with the healing sir.
 
Back in the 70s a # of guys used to wear nylon shorts (we referred to as "silkies") under flight suits during the warm weather for obvious reasons. Young Marines ain't very smart though!

We all new we were NOT supposed to wear anything but cotton underneath a zoom bag because the idea of a layer of saran wrap melted from your testicles to your shoulders if you have a rayon shirt on also.

I only knew one kid who did get caught in a small flash fire. He was a good teaching tool!

@Ikarus1, you look really good for the time for the time since injury!

Let's hope others have learned from your errors young man.

may I ask what type "salve" you might be using? it is doing great. I swear by neosporin for years for helping me repair some serious skateboarding injuries.

White gas is naptha? Glad I never messed with it, I've seen naptha make some big, fiery, exploded messes.

Bacitracin is what they recommended at the burn center at WF Baptist so I got 5 tubes of it. Then realized that its just one ingredient in triple antibiotic Neosporin so just switched to it. The Bacitracin is cheap at Walmart like $2 for an oz tube. I have been showering twice daily and debriding the dead skin off then smearing with the ointment. Then wrapped with a combo of polyfoam and silicon pads, wrapped with gauze and then self adherent bandage to hold it. Of course on the face burns just using ointment. It sucks but yeah I am happy so far.
 
I Can Report after meeting with Ikarus1 that he is a badass, in good spirits, and fast on the road to a Full recovery!! Looking Good Brother!!! I would probably still be in a cold dark room!!!
It was Great to meet and trade with another Awesome CFF Member!!
