The giddiness among Trumpsters over the Smollett news is gross. This story is awful. He allegedly abused police resources, exploited raw divisions in this country, and made it harder for every victim of a hate crime to report. This is sad no matter your politics.

He completely misses the obvious. The giddiness is in direct correlation both A- The apoplectic response of the media to push their favorite narrative backfiring on them, again and B- The public exposure of the grotesque efforts the left will go to to "prove" how bad the right is, to include complete fabrications of stories.

We know it's despicable. We know this type of behavior is at the root of many problems in this country. And the all too public implosion of his story puts that on full display for all to see, and it needs to be seen.

“Jussie Smollett put people’s lives at risk and could have created a situation that was much more damaging to those who are African-American and those who do identify with the LGBTQ community,” stated Project Islamic Hope Director and CEO Najee Ali.

“We have many members of the black community and the LGBTQ community who have been the victims of hate crimes. So for Smollett to say that he was a victim of racism and hate crimes — and we believe that is a lie — certainly is an injustice to those true victims of racism and hate crimes,” Ali added.

While the activist is basing his statements on media reports, he said he believes Smollett should be prosecuted for allegedly filing a false police report.

“Jussie Smollett must be brought to justice for lying,” Ali said. “We believed Smollett at the beginning. We gave him the benefit of the doubt, but over the last few days, we’ve seen this campaign of lies by Smollett continue to be unraveled.”

The comedian closed out the discussion by saying society should turn its focus from entertainers to people who actively seek to damage minority groups.

“If you want to treat it like a problem — and it is a problem — let’s focus on where the problem is. Who are the actual racists? What is the actual homophobia?” he said. “I’m with you. I’ll grab a pitchfork and be with you.”
 
If he was indeed attacked and a rope placed around his neck, where are the ligature marks? They let him keep his expensive phone?
They will say he has to be believed. He looks too good.

I call BS on at least half of this. Is it bad for the real victims? Yes. But IMO the amount of victims is pretty overblown for effect. And it is not going to increase anything other than public scrutiny on these issues, which I think may be a good thing. Looking at most of the high profile recent "offenses", many of them have been hoaxes or misrepresented. And any comments about the LQBTQ community coming from an Islamic activist give me the squinty eye anyway.

Who he was is not really important. It was what he did. His being gay doesn’t matter to this story. I think. Unless gay people are more likely to make shot up. Who knows? I knew he was a guy on a TV show with an album coming out. His sexual orocliivities and life history didn’t matter to me. You guys dice deep on this pop culture stuff.
 
Well, the real problem is this, what if the cops picked up two white guys that fit his description, booked them, prosecuted them and they were found guilty. Do you think that guy would have come clean to save two innocent white guys? What kind of time would they have been looking at for a “Hate Crime “? This is beside the filing of a false report, tying up valuable officer time and resources, and making an ass out of himself on national television.

He would have to identify the white guys as the ones. But I get your point, that would be a huge miscarriage of justice and he'd be to blame.
Even if he didn't ID them they would still have to live with people thinking it was them.

This is why giving false names to cops should be prosecuted heavier than it is. Say you give your cousins name to the cops and you, as him, gets a ticket. Whenever you don't show for court your cousin gets arrested and there's not a damn thing he can do about it. Even when the cop comes to the next appearance and says that no, you weren't the one he stopped you still have all that on your record. There are people that think it's no big deal but I'm not one of them.
