Well, we’ll see how long backorder takes. Just ordered a FDE large HC model with black Thyrm switchback. Glad I waited for my discount. My total out the door for both was &190.
I've been watching some videos showing different candela and lumen lights in different situations. Not a lot of great ones out there that I found, so if anyone has a good recommendation please let me know.
But based on what I did see, as much as I like the HC head, it would seem that the EDC head on the MCH would be enough for most of the uses I would probably have.
Also, wasn't there talk about a free upgrade for the Rein to the HC head? What happened to that.
Nope. The only aspect of updating the Rein 1.0 head to the 2.0 head that was every indicated to be FREE was a tailcap upgrade if you happened to have an older version with the single coil. That tailcap type can't handle the 2.0 head and will cause a catastrophic malfunction: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥I've been watching some videos showing different candela and lumen lights in different situations. lol, I did see that on their website, along with the Crew Served WeaponLights. Thanks for the clarification on what exactly was free. The tailcap makes more sense!Nope. Cloud Defensive or Modlite handhelds are your two best choices for high canadela units. Surefire makes a quality light, but hasn't gotten into the high candela EDC arena yet. The closest they have is their E2D Defender Ultra at 1k lumens.
Now if you have the funds you can step up to this bad boy which is technically a handheld:
UDR Dominator | Rechargeable Ultra-High Multi-Output LED Flashlight | SureFire
The heavy-duty SureFire UDR Dominator® tactical flashlight is a virtual lightsaber. Built in the USA, its advanced LED produces a maximum output of 2,400 lumens, pushing 200,000 candela to a distance of more than 900 meters.www.surefire.com
Just checked and mine is 1002XY, so looks like I have awhile….hindsight I probably should have waited a few months for the craze to slow down like it did with the Rein and OWL.So the CD FB group has been having some interesting posts about shipping, order#, fulfillment, ect. It's looking like even if you got your MCH order placed within the first 10 minutes you are most likely backoreded even though everything showed in stock. For reference, I am assuming the order#'s are chronological: mine is 963XY where XY is less than 50, I'm seeing order #'s posted in the low 953XYrage that are backordered. @Derek8404 was your order number higher than 985XY on the 5th? That is the highest order # I recall seeing posted. This is going to take them months to clear the bckorders, but hey they just got a nice $500k to $1million cash infusion.....nothing like crowd funding your business.
I've been here before and it was 6 weeks of "it will ship next week" BS from CD. I'm not going to do this again and support sketchy business practices. Looks like I need to order a Modlite OKW handheld tomorrow. I think I'm going to be happier with the Modlite OKW based on photos posted comparing OKW with Rein 2.0, which is the same as the MCH HC single output head.

To me it looks like both the Modlite heads are better than the Rein 2.0

Mine was a low 97 order and shipped on Saturday…showing to be delivered tomorrow. I only ordered a Rein2.0 though and not one of the handhelds. Wow, I knew they had sold some lights on Friday and Saturday but your order# is 4k above mine and I am probably 1.5k-2k behind the very first orders. Some fuzzy speculative math yields 5.5k x $300 (average order) = $1.65 million in sales while they only had ~2k of each light for "launch" which is roughly $1 million in product. That extra $650k is a nice bonus to collect!Just checked and mine is 1002XY, so looks like I have awhile….hindsight I probably should have waited a few months for the craze to slow down like it did with the Rein and OWL.
I am kind of kicking myself for not going with the OKW, but the new Rein looks pretty good in those comparisons. I’ll prob end up ordering a PL350 with a OKW head because I’ve got the itch for a new pistol light.
Yes, all versions of the MCH sold out within 20-30 minutes. Certain versions of the Rein 2.0 were still listed "In Stock" for several hours. There were only 2k MCH units for launch while that product had the highest number of possible SKU's with technically four head types, two body sizes, and four colors. That's 2k units divided 12 ways!? Them launching the Rein 2.0 concurrently also cannibalized 2k of the High Candela single output heads from being made into those types of MCH's.Mine was a low 97 order and shipped on Saturday…showing to be delivered tomorrow. I only ordered a Rein2.0 though and not one of the handhelds. Are those causing all the back orderes?
@Derek8404 I would be a bit hesitant to go OKW on a pistol light because that may be a little too focused. I'll try to get some photos tomorrow night at the range.
Ok that makes more sense now. With that intended purpose OKW is indeed the way to go then. That’s actually the reason I want it though. The purpose for this light is to go on my FN509 that accompanies me to the desert. So I want a real tight beam that can punch real far.
You are 100% correct. The live inventory banner was VERY misleading because that was 2k MCH lights split unevenly between 24 SKU's. Originally the MCH was only supposed to have two battery sizes, four color options and only two heads styles, but for some reason they added the dual HC and dual EDC heads to the mix. Plus the Rein 2.0 uses the same HC single output head as the MCH so they cannibalized stock there too. They expected to sell 4k+ MCH lights at launch, probably sold 6k+ and barely had 2k on hand to ship.I'm order # 952xx and nothing, doesn't seem like the orders are chronological at all. Pretty frustrating the way it's been handled. If they'd advertised it as a pre-order, no one would be upset. But the banner advertised 2000 in stock, so it seemed fair to assume we were ordering something that would ship right away.
I generally like their products (although why the hell they won't get on board with the industry standard Surefire plug is beyond me), but they've got a bad history of taking folks money for months and months before shipping products. I guess we should have known better, fool me once...

They fooled me for the first time back in Jan 2021 on a 2-3 week backorder that took 8 weeks to fulfill. Once I realized my MCH order was not shipping and backordered I sent a polite email on Wed Match 9th. It only took 8 days for their CS team to acknowledge my polite email request (demand) that they cancel my order, which they did that day. However six days later the charge is still on my cc. They will be getting a charge dispute tomorrow.
As best as I can ascertain the reason why they are shipping out of sequence for order #'s is:
1. They are Assembling/QC'ing/packing & shipping lights in batches by SKU and there are like 24 SKU's for the MCH.
2. FIFO was not used in fulfilling orders during the first 48-72 hours, Their website servers lagged/timed out about 7 minutes into the launch. From this they appear to have had some data recovery/access issues from their end and just skipped over fulfilling those orders.
You may not follow Clouds owner on Instagram, but he posted up an "apology" of sorts about the entire fiasco being his fault. Most people bought the crocodile tears act. It's pretty easy to say "I'm sorry" when you just took $1.5-$2 million in "orders" and collected all those funds already but won't be shipping those items for 1-2 months. They have done this before with the Rein FDE model launch. It's essentially crowd funding in my book, and at best is a very poor and at worst an extremely desperate and shady business practice. At this point I have zero confidence in Cloud's future product launches and will not participate. Loving my Modlite OKW handheld and Surefire is about to launch their Turbo lineup this month too!!

Just got a tracking notification that my order is shipping. So just under a month after I ordered. Not too bad I guess, but the way they operate their business still annoys me. I may have had a few beers and blasted them on IG the other day and the owner relied. Wonder if it’s just pure coincidence that I got my tracking number this soon after that or if he expedited my order to shut me up🧐🧐Well, we’ll see how long backorder takes. I'm glad yours is shipping! Interestingly you're not the first person to notice that their order suddenly shipped quickly after they blasted the company on social media. If you would like to share your IG handiwork with the rest of us, I know I'd find it amusing.Just got a tracking notification that my order is shipping. So just under a month after I ordered. Oh I lover your style, direct no BS. You gave him both barrels point blank and absolutely hit a nerve based on his response. You never attacked any of his people, but he acted as if you did and tried to spin it like a victim. Then his IG simp showed up to defend him just like they do in the FB Cloud group. I almost want to add my 2 cents to his response, but my Mama always said you can't fix stupid so me chiming in isn't going to change anything he does going forward.
Well, he did say “guys” plural…so there’s that. 🤣You never attacked any of his people, but he acted as if you did and tried to spin it like a victim.
and what is that blacked out section at the bottom? Something about getting their **** together? lolWell, he did say “guys” plural…so there’s that. 🤣
yeah he seems like a bit of a drama queen.Yeah I don't know about all that "they kill themselves for you" stuff.
They are employees working for a wage. Perhaps overtime or whatever depending upon demand. But they aren't doing it for me. At least I hope not. I hope they are working for themselves and their families.
From what I've seen between them and Modlite, they're like the microbrewery hipsters of the flashlight world. The product is damn good, but they need to show some better character and stop trying to flex their 15" ceps on IG. At this point in the game, it's my opinion they're trying to cling to every bit of profit they can rather than invest in their business for future growth. This is typically the point you either see a company expand (for better or worse) or tank.yeah he seems like a bit of a drama queen.
Agreed. I would probably go modlite over Cloud, if it weren’t for the substantial Mil discount they do but I may be about to the point where I don’t even care about the money and stop buying Cloud stuff on principle alone. Them dicking up every single product launch is getting pretty old…they really need to take a look at how modlite does things. You don’t hear a whole lot from them, but when they have a new product, they’ll make IG post about it but the difference is, they’ll actually have it in stock and they dont hype it up for months on end, only to wildly underestimate the demand and have their site crash only to “backorder” (crowd fund) everyone’s orders. From what I've seen between them and Modlite, they're like the microbrewery hipsters of the flashlight world. This is insane. I'm curious to see what the output with cr123 is. Modlite has a cr123 head with respectable output.CD is now ready to release the Rein 3.0
Absolutely. And I don't know why they would discontinue the owl either. And I’m willing to bet that by1001 their site will be crashed as per usual
Probably because they are trying to grow too fast. They clearly can’t keep up with the demand. There are insane for not doing the pistol light. They teased that over a year ago and still haven’t delivered. This is insane. I'm curious to see what the output with cr123 is. Modlite has a cr123 head with respectable output.

I think they would have an easier time keeping up with demand if they took the modlite approach andj ust made heads, screw the accessories use surefire crap.
That is a distinct possibility and I hope they did. However, compared to the MCH & Rein 2.0 launch they barely brought the hype train out of the station this time, maybe 2 weeks. Last time it was several months worth of build up after a delayed launch and a LOT of demand for the MCH. I don't think the Rein 3.0 has that much interest/demand yet Now if this was their highly anticipated pistol light launch, the servers were still up and they still had inventory, then that would be very impressive.Wow, so they are 45min into the launch and they are still in stock and the site hasn’t crashed. Color me shocked, looks like cloud may have actually learned something from their past cluster effs….

They have a trade in program, so do it.Not interested unless I can trade in my original Reins towards a 3.0.
