I don't have a vest as it would be a match-only item. I like to wear what I always wear and let the match be a test of my EDC. Just stay away from anything with a draw string and you'll be good.
People wear everything imaginable there, and most of the other IDPA matches as well. Lots of tee shirts, with an unbuttoned shirt over it as concealment. One of the faster shooters we have the privilege of seeing in person yanks a long sleeve tee shirt or sweatshirt over his gun and mags, and when the buzzer sounds, he yanks it out of the way with his left hand to draw with his right.Hey Lucas, another question, hoping to shoot the H20 idpa match next week, do you recommend getting a vest as a concealment or something else? if so what are some good options? @FlatFender
Nah, waste of money. Use whatever jacket/shirt/whatever you've got.Hey Lucas, another question, hoping to shoot the H20 idpa match next week, do you recommend getting a vest as a concealment or something else? if so what are some good options? @FlatFender
Do you want to be competitive? If so, you basically have to.Should I move from shooting Limited minor to Limited major?
Competative...absolutely.Do you want to be competitive? If so, you basically have to.
You either have to shoot major or you have to shoot all alphas. Ashley Rourke is extremely competitive but she gets very upset if she throws a Charlie. She is the exception though.Should I move from shooting Limited minor to Limited major?

Personally, I think SS minor is a different animal than Limited Minor. Having those extra couple rounds in a limited capacity gun can drastically change your stage plan, sometimes.also Josh Lother, competitive (top 5 at Spartanburg on a regular basis) and shoots minor in SS and Limited
So yea...still undecided, lol.
Its your fault, lol. After shooting yours, I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. That little extra recoil would force me to slow down...something I need to be reminded of every now and then.Time yourself on a small stage set up. Add up your hits and compare the differences and see which ones you are faster AND accurate with.

Lol, that sight was listing worse than the TitanicThat gun has turnt few people.
It will have a new rear sight by Thursday
A certain Junior Lady shoots .40 minor. After the match we check the practiscore competitor app for the what ifs. When we change her to major it is usually a jump of 5ish spots. Now that being said she has also beat most of us here on more then 1 occasion shooting minor.
Just realize that his loads are probably making a 140 power factor. Its your fault, lol. After shooting yours, I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. That little extra recoil would force me to slow down...something I need to be reminded of every now and then.
140? Did he add some powder recently?Just realize that his loads are probably making a 140 power factor.
This...this right here is the kind of info I was looking for. Jumping 5 spots is a significant difference.A certain Junior Lady shoots .40 minor. Lol, tough crowd140? Did he add some powder recently?
I like to have an actual chamber flag, you can use a piece of trimmer string, have to have something for the rifle.I plan on shooting my first 2 gun match in a few weeks. Besides my normal pistol stuff( holster, mag pouchs etc) I planned on buying a kydex 2 mag pouch for my Ar mags. Do I need anything else? Thanks
USPSA divisions are as follows:
Production - basically for your double action, off the shelf guns. Probably the most popular division. 10rd magazines, everything is scored minor power factor. 9mm is most popular.
Single stack - 1911 division.
Revolver - nobody cares.
Carry Optics - New division, basically your production guns with a few more modifications allowed and slide ride optics. Think Glock MOS, etc.
Limited - Limited guns are full blown race guns, but they still shoot iron sights and compensators are not allowed. Magazines are limited to 140mm in length. 2011's are the most popular. Limited is scored Major/Minor. Most folks shoot .40 in Limited to maximize the number of rounds in a mag and make major. Bullet must be .40 to make major (no 9mm major allowed in Limited). I generally tell someone who's brand new to shoot their first match in Limited. You can shoot whatever gun you own, and if you've got 3 double stack mags for whatever gun you've got, just stuff them full and shoot.
Open - open is where you see the real space guns. Red dots, compensators, all that. Magazines are limited to 170mm in length, and most folks shoot .38 Super or 9mm major.
Pistol caliber carbine - New division for pistol caliber carbines. Seems to be really taking off. There are some gear rules in this division but I'd need to go have a look at the rulebook to give you details on them. Some ranges and major matches are not recognizing PCC just yet due to range restrictions on rifles, etc.
When you shoot revolver, nobody wins.Does that mean if I shoot revolver class I can win?
Hmm, yeah I was born last night on that one. Help me out with it.When you shoot revolver, nobody wins.
Absolutely. Can you use a double belt in carrying optic division ?
I've had a CR Speed for several years. No complaints.Any recommendations?
I'm planning to be there, barring anything crazy coming up.Thank you . Do you plan to shoot at H2O this Saturday 6/10/17. Great job 2nd overall at EOD match.
Everyone is scored Minor in Production. Major scoring is such an advantage that it becomes the default in any division where it's an option, and the idea behind Production is to give the off the shelf guns a place to be competitive.
Yes, your magazines can be capable of holding more than 10rds, but they may only have 10rds in them after the start signal. All of my mags are Glock 17rd mags.
I believe (and I'm going off memory) that the rule says you can't have more than 10 in any mag after the start signal, which means 10+1 in the chamber is good to go.Can you have 10 in the mag plus one in the pipe at start of the stage or is ten rounds the maximum at any time?
I shoot Production, and I wear 5 mags on my belt, plus a 6th to start with.I've shot idpa / 3 gun / 2 gun and want to try uspsa at RPS.
1. How many mags should I carry for a default loadout for production? G19
So 10 rounds each.
2. What mag holders do you like? I have 2 readytac I've used for a while.
Maybe a completely dumb question but it's more of a procedural thing that I thought about with the recent DA/SA discussion.
All the previous matches I have shot have been with a striker fired pistol without a manual safety.
If I were to use a Sig P226, is there a requirement to decock while moving between stages or if a pistol has a manual safety z engage it when moving between stations?

Unfortunately, I think you're hosed when it comes to Production with that stippling.First match: a question about production legality.
I recently tripped over this awesome podcast (maybe some of you have heard of it...), and it got me all geeked up to go shoot my first match. I'd like to give USPSA Production a go, but there might be a problem. I have some stippling on my gun. While I'm pretty sure the stippled areas of my grip fall in compliance with Appendix D4-21.4 and Appendix E4, it looks like the small area under my trigger guard is going to be an issue. So basically, my question is: am I screwed (as far as Production goes)? Could I "undo" the effects of the stippling by sanding it smooth/wrapping electrical tape around it/etc., or would such band-aid type fixes actually count as further rule-violating modifications?
