Cool/Interesting cars

Howdy neighbor!
I'm over in the Riceville Valley.
Judging by that Yota I'm thinking you might know Randy Hensley from the valley? He's into that kinda stuph.
Hey!!! I know a handful of Hensley’s, but I’m not sure I’ve met Randy yet.
My wife and I kind of run the show at Black Mountain Tire, pop in and say hey some time!

Cheers

lol why did I get a confirmation screen when I tried to like this? It asked me if I was sure I wanted to like it?!

Most expensive street car I’ve seen in person. Was cool to see but was disappointed with the quality.
Dude just go sit outside at Brawly school rd and Williamson on a spring day. You will see 10 in one day that are more expensive. Mooresville is loaded with new super cars. I've seen just about car/truck you can imagine.

I saw a new electric hummer a few weeks ago. I've seen a mclairen, rolls,Lamborghini, bentley, a Bugatti. Serious money on Lake Norman.

Yes you see some nice cars around Mooresville, where I live, but an F40 goes for close to 2 million right now.

In 20 years what will a McClaren be worth.

The garbage they are putting out now... I'd guess most likely not much, I don't think they have done anything to set the world on fire since the F1.

A F1.. which is a TOTALY different animal, last one on a quick google search sold for 20 mil. Sky is the limit on those.

There is a Mclaren Senna in Charlotte that makes quite a few cars and coffee events, haven’t seen it yet. I believe those are around 2million also.

Can you elaborate on the quality of the F40.
As far as value, even though some of the Bugattis and such fetch a high price, I'd still say the F40 is the more expensive car. Just so rare and sought after

They are known for poor panel fitment, paint so thin you can see the carbon weave texture though it, and in person just look down right cheaply made.

They were basically race cars that were sold to the public, Ferrari wasn't worried about them being show cars.

FIFY. Keep your LS for a C4 Corvette.

Oh all original parts would be kept, believe that. Its just a fiero engine in those things, not like i'd be hacking it up. 😁

Just the body gaps were all over the place. The theater windows had a shotty silicone job to seal and cover the offset gaps. It was a unique car no doubt. It is most likely me putting the car on a pedestal and forgetting the fact that it was as close to a factory built street legal racecar at the time it was built. That car built to todays standards would be incorrect.

Absolutely true. People that are not from that area have no idea what goes on in that small town. You will be surprised at the variety of cars you'll see in the Harris Teeter parking lot on 150.

Back in the mid-1980's there were two wind tunnels in the entire US, Lockheed in Georgia and one in Detroit. Now there are three in Mooresville.

Lots going on in that town that people have no idea about.

Mooresville is just stacked with money. New and old money flows through from nascar to finance to pro athletes. My daughter has a friend from church whose parents have a 5,500 sqft house at the point. No way I would ever want those problems.

Barrett-Jackson auction last week in Scottsdale, 2.75 mil for this F40.

@hp468 , I know what you mean but the cf weave showing through the paint is a feature, not a bug on the F40. Paint can add upwards of 30 pounds to a car, the thinner the better.

I know why they did it, doesn't change the fact that the cars look like they were built by DR Horton.

And yesterday morning I spotted a 94/95 MR2 Turbo, they didnt import a ton of those years into the states
Always cool to 'find' more MR2s around town

@fieldgrade did you ever figure out if you could fit in one of these?

TL/DR version
No I have not.

Funny you mention it because I was looking at Cobra replicas for sale last night at Cobra County, Whitby Motorcars in Greensboro, and the factoryfiveforum.com classifieds.

When I was looking harder at these a few years ago the Gen 3 Daytona Coupe kits had just come out and there/they’re/their just were’t any around to look at. They are scarce as it is just to even find an older generation completed kit.

Based on my previous research for someone “our” size, I wouldn’t consider one of these coupes if it wasn’t a gen 3. They completely redesigned the whole car around a new, much more rigid tube frame, and dropped the floor pans about three inches which provides more headroom, and I think they may have reworked the foot boxes, because even for someone with “normal” sized feet, the foot boxes were diabolically cramped in any of these Shelby replicas (as well as the originals).

Even on my 2004 SVT Cobra which was basically a very high performance Mustang, I couldn’t wear just any shoes to drive it due to the proximity of the clutch, brake, and go pedal, which I don’t think was anything different than just a Mustang GT, with the big honking heads, lots of valves, a blower, and independent rear suspension. Interior and exterior Cobra trim notwithstanding.
