Disc golf

Played Reedy Creek with a buddy Friday after work. Played Scrapyard alone this afternoon. Playing either Kilborne or Beastway tomorrow.
Hope to get tix for USDGC this week. Anyone coming into town for that?

You end up making it out to that?

Built myself a disc golf rack. 5' bars so it holds a few!
Bought some clean 12"x6' pine boards and some EMS tubing and went to work. Last pic still shows a bit of damp satin clear.

Been playing a few weeks now, and just realized there was a thread on here about it. Def enjoying this so far. @NKD if you ever want some company let me know. I've been hitting up Pluck Farms in Mebane mostly since its the closest. Valley Springs or Cedar Rock when I have a little longer (playing the regulator for my third round prob wasn't the best idea). I drove over to Diavolo because its close to my work - def want to play that all the way through when the weather lets up.

CedarRock, Wellspring, Roxboro and Reidsville are all decent options around you. If you hit Diavolo again let me know. I haven‘t been playing a ton, but that is close to me. If you can throw straight there, you can score well. Pretty course.

I'm going to a chiropractor on Saturday. I'm really hoping he gets me fixed up so I can go play again.

There is an ok course in Carboro and Southern Village if you want a change of scenery. Those shouldn’t be to far away from you.

Glad to hear you have found out about such a great sport, I’ve been a long time professional in NC especially in the Raleigh area but also have played nationally on the pro tour.

Since my “retirement” from full time professional play I founded the Premier Disc Golf Academy. @NKD ane I are great friends! Some how he made it into my wedding as a groomsmen!

If you are looking to learn disc golf the correct way the first time you are at the perfect spot in your game, you don’t wanna know how many players go down the rabbit hole of YouTube content to find out that they had it all wrong.

Sweet! I play Valley Springs quite a bit as well as those others. There are so many awesome courses around. We're blessed for that. UNC is also one of my favs.
Would LOVE to play anytime.

You definitely need to meet this dude:

You need to meet Geerub. He is a world class GM speed/steel shooter. One of the best in the state and country.

There is an ok course in Carboro and Southern Village if you want a change of scenery. Those shouldn’t be to far away from you.

There is also a decent sport bar/grill in Southern Village that has pretty good food. Had a salmon club there last time I played that course, and it was excellent.

The big question is does @Geerubb still have the DW Eco 45 I traded him? 😆

It was a good trade, but I kinda miss that gun.
You prob don't want to know....😁

I ended up trading for a 5" 9mm stainless 1911 - I'm a sucker for a gun I can shoot in competition.

UNC is also one of my favs.
Oh man it has been way too long since I’ve played. Completely forgot about the UNC course, it is a great course!

Anybody been out playing in this cold?

I haven’t played in probably 4-5 years but the next ~60F weekend I may go hit Bailey in Cornelius w my 4yo. It’s short enough that I won’t embarrass myself too much, he can try to throw one without losing it too easily, and it’s a short walk to leave when he’s done.

I used to play Bailey quite a bit when I lived in Rosedale. It’s a nice short course but can still be pretty challenging.

I always had trouble getting my little girl past the playground on hole 3.

I used to live maybe 2mi from Bailey so I played it a ton, but this was 10yr ago.

I won’t be upset about a pit stop at the playground. A 5min playground stop and maybe 10-15min after we’re done disc golf actually sounds like a great plan! Thanks for the idea.

@NKD or anyone else planning on getting a round in somewhere around the Triangle this weekend? Weather looks good. I haven’t played in a long while, but I’m going to get out somewhere this weekend. I’ll suck, but I’m going anyway dammit.

YES. Can't wait to get out.

Where and when? I am flexible this weekend. I’d even be up for planning it around a lunch somewhere. You don’t get a body like mine without keeping it fed.

I am always down for UNC, but there might be some mud between and on some holes. The new Regulator at Cedarock park is awesome but it's quite a hike and fairly brutal.

edit: also good for lunch.

I’m good with Cedarock. Either lunch then an afternoon round or go early and grab something after. I’m good either way.

Y'all try the gas station grill at Belmont corner store down the street from cedar Rock if you haven't yet. Great fried chicken and hamburgers fairly cheap too.
