Dixie Gun & Knife Show (Raleigh - Jan 16/17)

I’m going partly for entertainment, but I often find odds and ends on the “junk” tables

I got some friends that are new shooters and they are wanting me to go. With COVID are they limiting number of folks in building and number of dealers? I didn't like standing in line when there was stuff there, don't want to stand in line for no vendors.

At the November show it was a full house, but easy to move around because of the smaller number of vendors.

No advance tickets for Saturday. Line is wrapped around buildings down to Gate #4.

Getting in now, one hour in line.

Reactions: Me.
Is it illegal to ride around the parking lot with an Ammo4Sale hanging on the side of the truck. If someone is willing to pay 80c/rd I could pay my truck off with the "extra" ammo I have.
Do it.

What have you got for sale?

nate

Everything is at a premium, none of the big reloading and ammo dealers at the show. The normal stuff. Sunday has advance tickets for sale.
Nice crowd, line still long when I left at 11:00.

@Button Pusher
Tons of apparently first time buyers scrambling to find handguns?
Not sure but plenty of handguns to choose from, not as many rifle dealers as last year due to the covid.
Folks paying $65 and up for 9mm, $80 for .40 in 100 rd boxes. We could make a killing with our Walmart hoard. ;)

We were set up at the Salisbury show a few weeks ago. Across from us was a dealer with maybe 8 or 10 tables filled with guns. By Sunday afternoon, I think they had 2 or 3 guns left.

I arrived at 8:50AM and my starting location was that sandy spot on the left in that photo. Took one hour to get inside. When I left the line was about the same size.

Got there at 0745. Checked a gun so I could go in fast. No wait if you had a gun.

1000 match srp were $150
100 rds of 9mm huerters was $75
5.56 was $1 per round.

A lot of guns but most over priced.

But people were buying them.

What were AR lowers selling for out of curiosity? That’s often a telling figure.

You are a very patient man. I can only wait that long when I'm fishing

Sheriff Baker is upset about the gun show selling guns with the Biden election coming up

That's just a publicity grab. I'm sure these dates were set long ago with no thought about anything current. He makes it sound like they scheduled the show a couple of weeks ago to coincide.

The article quotes that fair saying the dates are set up well in advance and are very big and popular.

Waited about 45 minutes to get in starting at 10. Other than freezing cold it wasn't bad and seemed to move pretty steady. Laughed/cried at the ammo prices but was only there looking at scopes. Was going to say hi to @cubrock but he was busier than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest filling out 4473's as fast as he could

I took a cheap pistol and went in the side entrance. Took ten minutes at most. Spoke to @cubrock and @powwowell , and had a good time,

And a dealer just banged a round off inside..

Great- if it's true I certainly hope no one was hurt but the dipshit just created a bunch of "noise" at precisely the wrong time of life. Or maybe I'm just thinking that the difference between the Greensboro show being banished and how the Raleigh show might be banished in the future is exactly zero right now. Simply don't trust the powers that be to not exploit things like this.

That cheap pistol sold in less than 30 minutes. Thanks for the trade.

Small pistol primers were selling for, wait for it, $250 a thousand. Selling! Wasn’t me this time, guys. I don’t have that much chutzpah, nor any small pistol primers to sell.

9mm ammo was the hottest item. We are out of ball at $40 a box. Sold something like 13,000 rounds. Sold all but one AR, which would have sold twice but for background check delays. Nearly out of 5.56 - brought over 25K rounds.

Craziest show I’ve ever done, but people were very controlled and polite. They seemed more resolved than panicked.

Glad to help, and thanks for your part of the trade. You always have fair prices, and I like to deal with forum members. Took the Buck Mark I got from you and shot it when I got home. Really like it, thanks!

"leaders", I don't think so. they can call themselves that but that's not what they are.
Traitors. Wake County issued 80,000 pistol purchase permits in 2020, more then the previous three years combined.

Damn ... is it time to start looking to trade extra AR’s for wood and blue again? I did okay back when they last “assault weapon” scare hit ...

I shoulda showed up with my primers. At that price.... I’d sell all mine and take up a new hobby.

If anyone needs 25 cent primers.... let me know.
I’ll take one. 😂
