Dixie Gun & Knife Show (Raleigh - Jan 16/17)

Damn ... is it time to start looking to trade extra AR’s for wood and blue again? I did okay back when they last “assault weapon” scare hit ...

The ARs had to be sanely priced. Palmettos weren’t selling for $1500, etc. ARs were selling for 75-100% more than during the lean times. What was once a $450 AR was bringing $800, etc.

I’ve got a Rock River Arms “Tactical Operator” I traded for last year that’s still in the factory plastic and zip ties that has some factory extras (upgrades stock, quad rail, NM Carry handle). Priced out based on their Tactical model it’s about $1400 ... what would the market be now?

From what I’ve seen, the upper tier AR’s aren’t selling as fast as the budget models. Local shops still have higher priced models in stock, while the budget models are sold out.

This was the same when Osama was elected years back. Everyone scrambled for the budget ARs and left the $1400+ on the shelf

Big crowd this morning. Spent some time with @Group23, and @303hunter. @Group23 spent around 40 minutes in line. He got in line at 10:50. or so. I stopped 2 or 3 times to speak with @cubrock, but it didn't pan out. Damn, he was busy. Sold the Anschutz that had I bought at the previous Raleigh show. Knives, knives, and more knives. Must be a lot of amateur, and professional knife makers out there? Ammo prices were frightening. I was interested in a used CZ 75B. Price was $499, plus tax. Vendor wouldn't budge on the price. I was tempted but I left it. After two hours of the show, I bought a small bag of popcorn for $3.00 and a $2.00, 16 oz., and left for home. Overall, a good time.

Always glad to see you my brother! We don’t stay that far apart that we can’t bust a few caps together!

Got there at 0745. Checked a gun so I could go in fast. No wait if you had a gun.

1000 match srp were $150
100 rds of 9mm huerters was $75
5.56 was $1 per round.

A lot of guns but most over priced.

But people were buying them.
Last WW SRP's I bought were $150/5000 and I think it came out to $165 to the door. These prices arent high...THEY ARE INSANE.

just "heard" about the ND at the show.
nothing online, yet.

I asked a vendor, up toward that way, about it. He said it was another vendor. Don't know if that is right or not. I asked if the show would be closed down. He said maybe. Still going at 1:00 pm. Obviously it was not shut down.

show was crowded. as expected rapey prices on ammo and primers. found some TX-22 mags which are unobtanium online so that was my score. my son worked himself into a solid nap afterwards. call it a win.

I went just because our local elected employees were on WRAL wee-weeing themselves over it.

Ammo and primer prices were beyond stupid and ppl were still paying them. Firearm prices were nuts and every table had someone filling out a 4473...

That said, I enjoyed myself, was in my element, found a TRW m14 that was recon'd by Fulton and passed on it because I have too many m14-style rifles, but if it was all USGI parts that are in spec, then the $2200 asking price was pretty good.

The only disappointment was it was the same shit everywhere you looked. The comms ppl weren't there, the preppers, the survivalists...

Are they sold out of everything too???

Deals I found:

10 .300 BO Pmags for 110, if history repeats, pmags will be unobtanium soon and I have a pile of G3 AR style. My wife and I have both switched over to 300 SBRs so this was a fine addition to the collection...

Glock branded 33 rd mags for the 17. 35 each out the door. Turned out I only had 69 in cash left and offered the vendor that or the cc fees and he opted for cash.

AR 500 target setup... this is usually a decent deal at gunshows given the cost of shipping for heavy steel. This is a good thick plate swing setup and it has some versatility to it if I want to change the layout later. 250 out the door...

There were a few other odds and ends, but those were the bulk of my purchases.

ND was a vendor who is a firearms instructor along with being an FFL. Show was not closed down, thankfully.

Today was not nearly as busy as yesterday, but still as busy as a "normal" Saturday at a show. We sold more today, being Sunday, than we often did in a whole weekend at this show during normal times. When they announced the show was closing in 30 minutes, we got swamped with people wanting to buy guns and sold five in the last half hour of the show. We had a good day and a great weekend.
