Gun rights victory at NC General Assembly - Mar 15

I saw again today folks selling handguns asking for PPP to make a sale. You can do as you please. But in way its the same as asking someone to show you a page from a 1978 phone book to prove the are a good guy. If a person makes his or her own fake PPP at home and you accept it, you have shown that you did not do your due diligence because you accept invalid documents as proof of eligibility. You can require a CCW but dont ask someone for a PPP. If a criminal wants to fake a PPP at home now and use it they havent really done much wrong because PPP is just paper and if they do it right they arent even faking a previously accepted government document. Dont open the door by asking for or accepting invalid documents. require a CCW or go by the law and ask questions to get comfortable maybe require ID if you feel someone is out of State and make the sale.

Time to necro a thread but it's relevant:

The handgun and long gun sales, as measured by the NICS system, in April of 2022, were:

  • handguns 1,655
  • long guns 12,435
The handgun and long gun sales, as measured by the NICS system, in April of 2023, were:

  • Handguns 46,040
  • Long guns 11,984

I think those numbers for North Carolina, particularly the handgun sales of 2022, are flawed. The only time a NICS background check would have been performed for handguns in 2022 would have been for PPP and CHP applications, NOT at the time the purchase occurred. Any number of guns could have been purchased using a CHP, and up to 5 PPP could have been obtained with one NICS check. I’m not saying the number of handgun sales did not go up, I just think the 2022 numbers are skewed.

I am proud of the work Jordan Stein and Andy Stevens did with GOA to push this over the line.
