Home Projects you’re working on.

I never put stair rails up because I don’t need them and just didn’t think about it.

Both my parents fell during the days just before the bbq. So I got these up this weekend.

I have a metal one coming in for the front door steps.

For some reason, Amazon decided to send the 2 of these I ordered in separate shipments.

Pretty happy with this little kit. Looks good, it moves to fit just about any slope angle and once you bolt it down and tighten all the bolts it’s solid.

Only took about 30 minutes from the time I opened the box to have it set up.

It came with all the stuff to bolt down to wood or concrete/brick but I opted for tapcon screws to secure it to the brick. I find those seem to last a lot longer for me.

Now I’ll just have to wait on the second one to arrive.

Haven’t you heard of reducing their carbon footprint? 🤔

Got the second one installed.

Then I decided to tackle replacing my sons ceiling light.

I didn’t get a before of the old light but this was a PITA I’ve been putting off for years.

He had a 12 inch, square, weirdly recessed box with a heavy glass cover that hung from the ceiling about 3 inches.

It was ugly and even with a 100 watt (equivalent) LED bulb it just barely gave a glow to the room.

I knew it was going to suck.

I’ve been looking at these new, slim, LED fixtures and decided to try one.

This one is 16 inches so it would cover the 12 inch square hole.

Pulled the old light out, cussed, got covered in insulation, cussed some more, had to figure out the weird wiring they had going on, framed in to mount the new light, wired it up and blammo.

This one has 3 setting for the warmth of the light spectrum. Warm, medium and cool. I chose the medium setting.

The pics don’t really do credit to the difference in how much light this thing gives off. This one claims 4500LM which is like a 200 watt equivalent.

I think I’ll buy a few of the 12 inch ones to replace all the old, granny looking contractor lights through the house.

Here’s a link to the light.

Profile from the ceiling is 1 inch.

Chdamn, are you happy with the quality of the material and the workmanship? They look nice. My wife has been bugging me to install a set. A cousin's son works for a shop that makes rails and he said they get $100 a foot, or in my case, $1400. I can't stand that.

If this doesn’t work I’m considering burning the damn house down.
Had to install from inside the attic, my 28’ ladder didn’t come close to reaching this.

Sorry I missed this. Yes I am very happy with these handrails. You can get them in 3, 4 and 5 step versions.

The 3 step was $90 each. The 5 step is only $130 each.

Here’s a link to them.
