If you were going to buy only one piece of fitness equipment

C2 Rower. Tons of adjustability for steady state cardio or heavy resistance work. 500M sprints can and will destroy you if you hit them like they owe you money. Zero impact.

The only thing it won’t really hit is chest and tris…. And push-ups require no equipment.

The only setup that offers maybe more flexibility/value per dollar is a barbell with a good set of plates, a bench, and a power rack. Squats, deads, bench, OH press, Oly movements, and pull-ups all in one spot.
 
TRX straps and a couple of kettlebells. Cardio is overrated.
You can do a ton with a handful of kettlebells. I have a very minimalist setup and honestly it’s forced me to pay attention to details. I’ve made more progress in the last 12 months than I have in the last couple of years despite being way behind the curve on available equipment

A beer keg weighs 22lbs. You can load it up to 4-500+. You can use media that rolls and sloshes inside to make it extra spicy.

You can drag it
You can flip it
You can throw it
You can clean and press it
You can carry it
You can just pick it up, drop it and repeat until you die

I had one someone was kind enough to loan me to train for an event. It’s been on my short list of things I need to buy for conditioning equipment. This one was max reps for a 200lb keg over a bar in one minute. It was a long damn minute and short folks didn’t get a lower bar 😂

The original question was mostly for my wife, but I seem to have shed 20lbs and may be interested in making some muscles more musclely.

Yeah I’ll grab some pics. I may have posted in the garage gym thread. Some of the stuff I do have I could honestly do without. I gave one member here a FaceTime walk through
