New Ruger 9mm carbine.....

Damnit. I want one of these real bad. I'd love to see one in 10mm that takes glock 20 mags.
10mm has enough power that a blow-back design would probably need a heavy bolt and recoil spring. I would love to see one that is gas operated, or at least a delayed blowback, that doesn't cost as much as a Kriss Vector.

Can someone who has one measure the pieces separately for me, length and max width or a total footprint would be nice too? Trying to determine the size bag the two pieces would fit into well.
  • Barrel Length 16.12"
  • Overall Length 34.37"

The rear of the barrel that locks into the receiver is about 2" in length, so the stock/receiver section is slightly less than 20" total. I am looking for a 22" case.

My PC9 shipped Friday and should be at my FFL Wed. I had originally ordered the carbine for $519 shipped and it was back ordered, so I canceled this order and ordered it from Whittakers Guns for $499 shipped.

Ordered from Whittakers Thursday night. It's sitting at UPS since this afternoon and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Hopefully they'll get it in time for me to pick it up tomorrow.

I will post some quality photos this weekend (it want look any prettier) and give a brief tabletop review......I had to drop in the Glock mag adapter of course, and screwed on a 9mm brake. Its a lot like a 10/22 on roids. It is robust and feels generally nice even with the glass filled nylon stock. She is not a pretty girl for sure but you can likely rider her hard without much of a fuss.

For those interested in a case for the PC9. The one I show here is an older version of the 25" UTG Covert case I have laying around. Inside dimension are 25" wide. Its not Maxpedition quality for sure but not bad for the price point. It will hold at least 6 happy sticks (33 round Glock mags) in the outside pocket and you could drop a G19/17 in there too.

Not meaning to derail this Ruger carbine thread but Just Right Carbine has a 10mm takedown that can be had for much less than a Kriss. I have a 9mm version and it works fine. I've shot the 10mm and it shot well also.

I have not shot a 10mm carbine, but I believe the JRC and the Hi-Point are both blow-back designs (I have both a HP 9mm and 40, and they are simple blow-back). The reciprocating mass could be drastically reduced if they went to a gas operated system. On my 9mm AR, you can really feel the bolt/buffer moving back and forth. The buffer in the 9mm AR is almost 3 times the weight of a regular AR buffer. Don't get me wrong, my 9mm carbine works just fine and is fun, I just think it could be even better. A 10mm with the extra energy and recoil would only need more buffer weight.

I stuck an ETS mag in mine after I swapped out the magwell. Seems to fit like it should but I haven't had a chance to check functionality. I'll know more after this weekend.

Got mine to the range today and I was not disappointed. Put 100 rds through it with zero malfunctions using factory new and reman ammo. Used Glock 26, 19, 17 and ETS 31rd mags and all functioned flawlessly. The ETS mag is a little snug and needed a little bump to fully seat but functioned well once it was. Sights were dead on out of the box with no adjustments needed. May add a red dot or reflex later but for now I am more than impressed with this little carbine.

30 rds at 25 yards. I'll take it.

Great to hear....hope my initial outing gets the same positive results.

I got lucky and found 2 in stock locally last week. Being the certified Ruger nut that I am...I bought both. Dealer price was $499!
I had been searching the net, and biting my nails trying to find the first available!
No issues at all so far running all sorts of ammo 115/147gr in either (one with Ruger-one with glock) stock and suppressed.
Dissapointed that no bag was included, but they do fit perfectly in a 10/22 TD bag.

I now feel SHTF ready with 2 new model PC's and a handfull of SR's (need more Glocks) and 2 original PC9's with a handful of P series handguns!
(I did say that I'm a "certified" Ruger Nut)

(edit)
I did notice that initially it took quite a bit more effort to seat the Glock mags VS the Ruger mags. This was noticed initially with empty mags, and was like night/day compared to the ease of seating the empty SR mags. However, for whatever reason, this went away when the mags were loaded. Weird!

If I could have found a matching pistol at a sane price for my pc40 I may have kept it. This new one looks a lot more flexible.

Same here! Sold my PC40 last year...then there were P series .40's on every corner!

Oh I could find them, but people wanted rare Colt money for them. And the PC40 jumped in price right after I sold mine lol

Once I'm done moving around and can find a proper job again I'll surely be getting the new carbine and a matching handgun, I've always loved the mag share pair idea.

I really see the ability to match just about any pistol to this carbine with the smallest amount of effort from Ruger or an aftermarket company. I detail stripped mine last weekend and really saw the potential for this. The bolt face is removable so another caliber could be easily achieved. There's also a removable heavy tungsten weight that accounts for the majority of the bolts total weight so you could tune the bolt to match the caliber. With the versatility of the bolt, the ability to change the magwell and the ease of changing barrels this thing is begging for multiple caliber kits.

I finally got out to shoot the PCC9 today between the rain and stopping at the Salisbury Gun Show.

I suspected the rear sight was off because the sight ring was at the right edge of the sight block; the first 5 to 10 rounds proved I was correct. After centering the ring, the rounds were dead-on at 25 yards. The PCC9 was very pleasant to shoot. I had to stop and consciously think about recoil to notice it. I had been a little uncertain about the rear sight being so far forward, but it was very quick and easy to use. I used a random mixture of assorted ammo without any hiccups.

Is it just me or does it look a bit like a Kel-Tec SU16?

Can someone please post a closeup of the muzzle threads with a measuring device
Showing the total length of the threads?
I want to see if the threads are relieved and if they are "flash hider" length or suppressor length.

Can anyone comment on the carbines behavior, suppressed vs non suppressed?
Typically, blowbacks cycle much harder with a can.

Has anyone tried a Rooga 10/22 aftermarket trigger yet?

Is the barrel held on with a V block similar to the 10/22?

Are the iron sights dovetail, screwed on or other?

Do you see a POI shift when the front half is removed then reinstalled?

Dammit stop asking questions and just buy one! If you don't like it, I'll give you $250 for it and a bag of cat food to feed your pond fish!

I can't give you any info on the suppressor question as I have no experience with one on this rifle. Haven't tried any aftermarket triggers on mine but the 10/22 trigger parts will work. My 10/22 has had some trigger work done so I swapped the sear and hammer over and it works the same. Doesn't use a v block as the barrel simply locks into the receiver with lugs. Sights are screwed on and POI does not shift as both are mounted to the barrel vs the rear sight being on the receiver. Hope this helps.

Got one, it’s pretty awesome but intermittently the trigger is failing to reset (once every 20 or so rounds). That’s across about 350 rds of 115 and 124 ball. No issues with feeding or returning to battery. Talked to Ruger and they want me to send the trigger group back. Anybody experienced anything similar since knocking the new off?

Heard back from Ruger today. Apparently the used carbine I snagged has some Volquartsen parts in the trigger group and contrary to appearances, 10/22 parts and PC9 parts are not universally interchangeable. Following up with seller....
