NJSP: Enforce Magazine Ban, “We do not discuss enforcement strategies.”

Maybe those who choose to leave are of like mind?
90% are of like mind that they are moving out of the snowy weather, terrible traffic, and away from high personal and business taxes, but still are Anti-2A because that's what is ingrained in them. I have worked with dozens, went to church with a few, and my mother was born there. NJ is a breeding ground of the modern liberal groupthink that dominates the Northeast. I've actually had 'friends' ask me why 'ANYONE' would need an AR15 even after I have posted pics of me and my family hunting coyotes, target shooting, and enjoying shooting sports with our various black rifles. Even after some of them have went shooting with us.

Remember, this is the state where a college professor was facing jail time for possessing a 250+ year old RELIC blackpowder pistol in his private vehicle. Where they served a summons on someone for having a Marlin 60 with the 15rd (or 18rd) magazine tube in his safe. The guy won it in a raffle, put it in his safe, and unknowingly became a felon after they passed their latest AWB.

It's like Chicago, but an entire state.

No. Because that fills the South with more Jersey type groupthinkers who disagree, but bring the same BS with them down here. NO just like illegal Guatamalan refugees, STAY where you're at and fight, brave New Jerseyites.
Definitely. They can stay where they are.

They come here for a better life, better economy, cheaper housing and standard of living, they claim to hate where they come from....then they want to pass laws to make NC more like where they came from.

I have a good friend, he was an ED RN, now a manager of a clinic, from northeastern NJ, as conservative as any conservative I know, hates NJ, hates most people from NJ. He is the exception to the rule.

He's 1 in 1000 I would estimate. The worst are the ones who moved to Florida in the 70s/80s/90s and succeeded in ruining most of those south Florida towns from Jupiter to Miami, then migrate up here because Florida has gotten 'soooo expensive' lol. Idiots. They're the problem. And the reason why NC is turning purple.

No, I am saying that human history shows it's the policy enforcers who actually commit the atrocities rather than the policy creators, that American cops are not made of finer clay than the rest of humanity, and there is no law so trivial that they won't murder you if you resist its enforcement.

Thems just the facts.

NJ is apparently a FID (Firearms Purchase ID card) state. They track all purchases and have a de facto gun registry. It may start with friendly reminders mailed to all FID holders and then face to face interviews or visits to the registered home addresses.

Yes, he is. I know a lot of people from Jersey; most are liberal or ambivalent, a few--very few--are conservative. I dated a girl from Garfield (living here) and after a while she asked if she sounded as annoying as the rest of the people from NJ. Uh, yeah, babe....you do. She worked hard to get rid of the annoying, nasal, northern Jersey accent. Her parents--her dad was a president of a community college, her mom, a clinical shrink--were both very, very flaming liberal (but rich, which helped me).

You are right in that they move, demand change to make their local government to reflect their values, and when they get those changes, get fed up with them and move again....and the cycle repeats.

They call those halfbacks. Moved from Jersey to Florida and then halfway back.

I'm actually from the Chicago area, but lived in Garfield twice. I'm a glutton for punishment. In a county, Bergen, where at one time, not sure now, you couldn't buy clothes or other household items on Sunday. Entire stores closed and grocers blocked aisles. You could however purchase liquor and the local adult entertainment emporium was open. You just couldn't get yourself some clean drawers or anything to clean up with after the party!

I feel your pain on the accents. Mrs. is from Brooklyn. She got rid of most of it for business reasons. But if she gets around her sisters? Fugettaboutit! I recently had 15 of the outlaws in my home! My ears!

We've been here 14 years. I like to think I'm a damn fine yankee. The current state of affairs here in NC has me very concerned. Meck has become like the Raleigh/Durham area. Entire commission Democrat, and an anti-2A, pro open borders TV Star/sheriff.

One of the outlaws that went shooting with me now has the bug. I feel sorry for him, living in Jersey. He seriously wants to get in to shooting. I handed him a Mossberg 500, 18.5 inch cylinder bore/brass bead and he put 5 slugs into the nine ring at 25 yds after me talking him through it. I didn't that day! Them we moved on to the AR15. I gave him 10 round mags to use and told him to not get attached to using a VFG, lol. He is currently researching what he needs to do in NJ to get started and saving money.

It's like Chicago, but an entire state.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

Quasimodos need to go on all the way back and enjoy liberal paradise. I hear the gardening is great up in the garden state, for 2.5 months. Plus you don't have to pump your own gas!

There is a SouthPark episode about how much NJ sucks...
Season 14, episode 9...

It is a state with no hollowpoint bullets, no left turns and you are not allowed to pump your own gas. Also while it is free to enter, you pay to leave. Are any of you guys surprised?

I moved here, and know many others, who have zero interest in "changing the laws" or making NC like Berkeley, lol. Good Lord.

I'm there with you. Moved here from Boston 17 years ago.I haven't been back in 12 years.

Massachusetts was/is an FID state.
I had to get one when I bought a BB gun.

I’d be willing to bet the Venn diagram of folks who leave NJ for this ban/confiscation and folks who largely agree with “us” politically is much closer to a circle than what is being represented here.

Here’s another unpopular opinion: NJ’s ban helps us. It will be another in a long line of failures that we can point to when some brilliant legislator suggests it here. Our system was designed so that one could vote with their feet. Federalism FTW!

The problem is that with the ever increasing power of the federal government it is becoming more difficult to vote with your feet.

The difference between in-laws and outlaws? Outlaws are wanted.

So when police start arresting people for having magazines that are more than 10 rounds, will the defenders of the police still try and reason away their enforcement? They aren’t all bad, but just like wacky tobbacy I bet they still “just do their job” just the same.

You know they will.....

"He should have just complied...."

"We need to see the whole video...."

"These officers have families too, ya know...."

"He shouldn't have tried to argue the Law inside his own home...."

"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes..."

"What do you expect when the police show up unnanounced at your house and you're holding a gun?"

"They feared for their lives!!!!"

"To the best of my knowledge, never before in this country (or perhaps with the exception of when the Regressive King FDR pulled it with gold) have we gone down the path of making people who possessed a rightfully purchased item an after the fact felon and demand confiscation of said property. "

Bump stock?

Oh man, don't get me started on that topic. I've written a strong letter to a certain president, declaring my intent to not conform, and really, really close to mailing it.

Absolutely!!! It’s why the 10 amendment is so important. It’s a shame that so few understand how perverted our system has become. The power needs to be given back to the states and ultimately the people. It’s crazy to think that one-size-fits-all policies will work for a country of our size/population. Our founders were some wise men indeed. The federalist papers should be required reading for every high schooler IMHO.

I think they should start in the Hoods. NJ is a state that does not let its legal folks have guns without jumping through a ton of hoops. But most every hood-rat is carrying. Go through the hoods and start taking the rats hi-caps away from them and lock them up instead of going after the few legal gun owners.

There are many exceptions. Hell, I’ve lived in NY, NJ and CA! I should be the devil incarnate, but I’d like to think I support NC’s traditional values pretty well. Even if the b’cue is overrated. :p

There ARE many exceptions. Some people immigrate to NC for the right reasons and assimilate nicely.

As for your last sentence....

I don’t dislike all NC ‘cue. I hear some transplants have brought in some better stuff like burnt ends, ribs and wings!

We were forced to buy health insurance with bunch of stuff that we did not want or need. Justice Roberts opined that forcing the population to buy stuff is legal and our so called "representatives" did nothing. Yes, the day of reckoning is coming, the stuff that is going on in France will be child play compared to what the US freemen will do.

That explains a lot.
:D

They're not going door to door, that's dumb and pretty much not possible. See the "war on drugs" or illegals or any other thing they ban or declare not allowed except for the .gov / elites. They'll just do it over time.

As a bonus they'll have another thing to throw at people when they want to take someone down. Isn't that the end goal of a police state, to make sure everyone is a criminal?

“Did you really think we want those laws observed? ..............There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them."

........Ayn Rand

I wonder if this was the type of discussion that took place around tables in Lexington in the weeks before April 19, 1775?

Absolutely.

Liberty can be f'ed with but for a season.

Begging, pleading or even demanding elected "leaders" to govern within the boundaries of the Constitution ain't gonna work.

Liberty is there and it is yours. Ultimately, you have a choice whether or not you exercise it. Every day in this country, even in tyrannical bastions like NY, NJ, Mass, CT and CA, citizens make an individual choice to live free. Whether it's owning banned magazines, semi-auto rifles or choosing to carry absent a permission slip simply because it is their g-damned RIGHT to do so.

Heinlein was right...you cannot conquer free people. Remember folks; we are the "governed"...not the "ruled".

Apparently, no magazines have been reported turned in, as of yet.

AmmoLand reached out to several local police departments in New Jersey to see how they plan on enforcing the ban and what the turn in numbers have been? Much like the New Jersey State Police, none of these departments have a concrete plan on how to proactively enforce the ban and none had a single report of magazines turned over.

ETA- I just read in a comments section that one officers department had 20 turned in by two people.
