Company letterhead, corporate dorks cited the CDC announcement that said we are an essential industry and need to be allowed to go to/from work. Signed/dated by local management, second page had their employee profile photo and their immediate manager's, along with date of hire, title, etc, with a spot for the employee to put their name and sign/date.Soo, who types up these essential papers?
Or does ones company just dictate on their own letterhead that they’re essential?
poorly for at least one, maybe 2 or 3 people.Being serious, how would you see that type of scenario playing out in real life?

What are you standing up to brother? Who has impeded your right to travel at this point?
Have you been reading the thread? It's turned to a discussion about travel papers after a government lockdown... But everyday there's a new place I'm not allowed to go... Can't even get a haircut after Wednesday...
Dude, Ive read this thread. It's also a thread where we got people who 'know' stuff and how this lockdown is coming tomorrow. Today. In twelve minutes. Whatever.
Yeah, so some letters about who is 'essential,' ok. But so what, how has it been used AT ALL so far here?
Dont get all riled up for something that hasnt even happened and MAY NOT happen.
Settle down Francis... We're what-iffing... I'm just doing the same... If this lockdown BS happens, I won't be a party to it...

Once. In 2017? I think.
I wish I could stay home, but if this thread is any indication I'm going to be too busy putting myself at risk caring for all the people who think this is a joke and are going to carry on like normal.
Sure hope none of you chest thumping rugged individualists have diabetes, high BP, COPD, asthma, any sort of organ dysfunction, or are getting on in years.
On the surface your hypothesis of why would people be out driving around if everything is close is a very sane thought ... the flaw in it is that it assumes those idiots out there driving with nowhere to go are sane. They are out wasting time and going nowhere like their bodies and brains waste oxygen every other day.Have you been reading the thread? Sometimes on the bike I try to get lost going nowhere.I ride around on my motorcycle all the time just going nowhere.

Hell, last Thursday I took the MR2 out just to cruise around a bit. Drove about 45/60 minutes with nowhere in mind, just driving.

I hear you and commiserate with you on one level. On another, no one else is paying my bills or providing what my family needs to survive. I'm the one that has to make the call on what is necessary for my life because, quite frankly, no one sitting in Raleigh or DC will know or care if we starve, our house is foreclosed on, or we lack other basic necessities of life. I'm not chest thumping, but I will do what it takes to take care of those whom God has entrusted to me. Roy Cooper has already shut most of my business down, but I'm doing what I can to adapt to the situation and it is working, thus far.
I won't be out wasting gas driving around aimlessly. Neither will I be picking fights or looking for a confrontation with the "Let me see your papers" crowd. I prefer to fly under the radar and avoid all that. If I can take care of my own within the limitations of a lock-down, I will. If I can't, I'll do what I have to do. In the end, I'm accountable solely to Him.
Have I been under a rock the last couple of days? What 'lockdown'?
I've only seen shelter, don't travel, no groups, etc. But no lockdown.
Yep. Evidently a lockdown was announced to start at 8a tomorrow (Thursday)? Wife texted me that, but I haven’t gone anywhere to look. The "leaders" in Charlotte have consistently wanted it to be more like the bigger cities; it looks like they have gotten their wish.

BTW -how does one obtain said papers? I am self employed plumbing contractor - should be able to have some.I am an essential worker, i have my papers...

Happening in High Point too apparently. I saw on Nextdoor a thread about some guys going house to house and seeing if they can pilfer from cars and sheds. They were spotted, description, car description, license plate, everything capture. Resident called the police, they basically said thank you and hung up. Only after they were in a shed and another resident with poor marksmanship shot at them did the cops even come and take a report. To protect officers from the new coronavirus, various law enforcement agencies, including the Orange County Sheriff's Office and police departments in Durham, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, aren't dispatching officers to non-violent 911 calls, such as fraud, property damage or larceny cases where the thief has fled. Instead, officers will complete incident reports over the phone, or people can complete the reports themselves online, the departments said.

The banner at the bottom of the Spectrum News says 3/26-4/16. Didn't catch the time if they gave it
