Short wait times for suppressors are the new normal

So I'm curious if anyone knows what they are looking at for approval? According to their site the current average wait for an individual form 4 is 53 days but I've seen several on here and Arfcom that are getting approved within hours or days and others still waiting months. There seems to be no method to the madness, like they have interns working the queue and doing LIFO, and some get lucky some don't. I would love to call the number but feel that mine would get pushed even further down the queue if I do.

I bought one of those b&t 22 cans and it's been pretty good so far.
Ok, so maybe I can ask you the questions. The one review I saw said the threaded end had spanner holes, which I’ve seen a pic of. Them something about a hex hole in the blast baffle? Maybe something an allen wrench would fit?

Is there any way to remove the front cap?

And you can confirm the baffles are polymer? (I saw the B&T rep say that, maybe on video from SHOT? I’d be curious to see the manual for it…can’t find a copy online.

Zero logic to any of it. The one thing you can be assured of is that it’s not a FIFO system.

Calling will have zero impact. But it will also tell you absolutely nothing, assuming you filed with eForms.

@BigWaylon I was of the impression that it was not meant to be disassembled. I will get you some pics though. I had been told that you're supposed to just soak it when it needs to be cleaned.

I believe the baffles are polymer. They certainly look like it.

It is bigger than my dead air mask but weights less. Also most of the weight is at the end where the threads are at so it doesn't feel front heavy at all. The mask is obviously a higher quality can but it was also more than double the price. Other than the first round pop they seam pretty comparable in volume reduction. I am using the b&t on my semi autos so I don't really care about the pop. Keeping the mask on my bolt gun.

I thought that said "not a FAFO system" and i was going to point out that i'm purposely trying to put stupid "reasons" on my form 1 applications now to see what will make them fail and get me a stern talking to.

There isn't anything on the other end of the can to help with disassembly.
That can isn't disassembleable.

Is that a word?

Anyway you clean it by soaking it in hot soapy water and then air dry.
Dunno about that. As it's part aluminum, I don't think the ultrasonic cleaner is a good idea.

I looked into getting one and decided I already didn't use my Mask enough to warrant another 22lr can.

I think “not user serviceable” is the term. 🤓

Electronic RPQs are a no-brainer. But so are electronic 5320.20s.

ATF form 4 Trust submitted today May 3rd. Will see what the wait time is once approved. 🤞
I submitted a form 4 single shot trust on 21APR24... Still waiting on my approval...

Okay, but serious question… where are y’all finding cans to buy?

Carolina gunrunners has some on shelf.
Capital armory is good and have some stuff.

I'm just a big fan of the Banish series suppressors and they are the main dealer for them. They recently warrantied my Varminter 3.0 .223 and did a beautiful job. Issue with the can was no mistake from manufacturing but user error and they still did me a solid.

My local gun shop called this morning. He just received 2 more cans on my wishlist, an Omega 300 and a 9mm modular.
Maybe the new forms will bump the .22 can I'm already waiting for. But, I doubt it. Trusts with 2 responsible parties aren't getting the rush treatment. :(

Don't like the Banish series? 😅 Guess looking into the recently changes, been 9-10 years since I bought mine. Just a simple Banish 22 recently purchased that I expect will get beat on. If I got an additional 30 cal can, I'd probably go with the HYPERION QD 762 . Didn't really research prior to getting the Banish 46 for the 450 bushmaster for northern state hunts, but I am not unhappy with it. I Really should utilize more of the forum base to get up to date on what is available. : )

I’m not even going to comment on the Banish series. Zero experience with them. Fairly certain it’s just the latest iteration of Dakota Silencer.

But I think Silencer Central is one of the shadiest companies in the industry. No way in the world I’d ever deal with them for anything.

Now you have my curiosity! The Banish series is the Dakota Silencer, you are not wrong there. What I had originally went with 9 years ago thru NC silencer when they were still in business. Only went with silencer central as it seemed simple enough when I wanted to order a can for the 450 bushmaster. Why do you feel as though SC is shady? Feel free to PM/DM me if you feel like this is to off topic for the current thread.

I got a couple cans from NC Silencer as well. Still have Hank’s cell saved in my phone but haven’t talked to him in years.

With SC, it’s just been story after story of bait-and-switch stuff. Pushing their house brand stuff while putting down other brands, which I understand for a financial reason, but not always truthful in their reasons/explanations.

Now, to be clear, I have zero first hand experience with them. It’s all second hand info, mainly from all the years I was the NFA Mod on ARFCOM. But way too many stories for there not to be any truth behind it.

I was finally able to certify my Osprey 9 yesterday at 10:14 AM. It just got Approved today at 7:33 AM, so <24 hours.

I also certified a Mercy Pluto at Secundus yesterday, so hoping that one's just as quick.
