While Trump appears to have been co-opted by the deep state/neocons as Obama was, and Bush before him, one interesting aspect of all this is Trump's warning to Syria and Russia.
Trump has said many times that you don't warn your enemy, but this is exactly what he did with his tweet. Not only did he tell them missiles were coming, he even told them "smart" missiles would be used. And last night was the first combat use of the JASSM advanced missile. This gave Syria some time to relocate important assets.
And it appears, as with the Tomahawk missile strike in 2017 (after another false flag gas attack regarding which Mattis admitted earlier this year we still don't know who carried it out), the damage was contained, assuming there's some truth to this Russian claim:
Russia claims Syria air defences shot down 71 of 103 missiles (I think it's more likely that some of the missiles were shot down, but not nearly as many as being claimed).
I could be reading too much into this, and maybe Trump has been hopelessly sucked into the swamp, but this attack could have been much more devastating to the Syrian Army and put the jihadists in an even better position than it did.
