The New Hudson H9

Well, now I finally know why he moved to Texas. :)

Interesting location. Temple Texas is about 45 miles north of Georgetown, which is where STI is headquartered.

That is a heck of an intro video. One of best I have seen.

They should have consulted a holster guy. That transition from the frame to the trigger guard is so small I bet you will not be able to build a leather holster for it that works worth a crap. The shelf that the trigger guard makes holds the pistol up in the holster, keeping it from sliding too far into the holster. The only good option left for a leather holster is closing the toe on it to create a shelf for the end of the slide to sit on. Kydex "might" work better. Hybrids, no way in hell it works well.

Looks cool. But not sure I would take on trying to make a holster for it.

Well...crap...

I agree...at first I was kinda questioning whether I liked it or now. But when I considered the "why" behind the design it reminds me of the Chiappa Rhino in a way. To do things different things have to change. My >only< concern would be with how low a WML would hang and whether or not hitting an on/off switch would be an issue.

That was the first thing that stood out to me when I looked at it. I don't think you could use a WML effectively with it hanging that low.

I've been watching the teasers on Instagram they have been putting out, it's a interesting design and I'm curious to see how it works.
Looks like something out of a Dick Tracy comic book.. But as they say it's only dumb if it's doesn't work.
Probably not for me but I commend they for stepping out the box.

I wouldnt mind giving this thing a shake down. I like my 1911's/2011's, so I'd like to see the differences on a timer.

That'll be the real test.

I don't get it. If you keep it stock it is basically a very expensive PPQ/VP9 type striker gun with a good trigger. But metal framed and heavier. Just different looks to draw in the 1911 guys. So you are paying somewhere around $400 or so more to get there. Or you can add the thumb safety and have a 1911 function for what is bordering on very good 1911 territory. For $1,000 or so they are some solid 1911's. Guess someone will have to shoot these a bunch and see if they are worth it. Plus we'll have to see what true street price ends up being.

I get it. And as a friend of mine chided me "Why would I spend $1000 dollars on a Glock when I already have one I paid $400 dollars for.

All I can tell you so far, having not had the opportunity to shoot it myself, is that there is a lot of impressive engineering in this handgun and the fit and finish of it, from what I understand, will rival some more expensive custom pieces.

The thing that impressed me most, if you watch the video, is the almost non existent recoil due to the low barrel axis. Something the PPQ had the opposite of. I own one and the muzzle flip is enormous.
The PPS in 40 broke me of slim and small pistols. I'm a large guy and that thing hurt. Sold and bought a Ruger SR 556.

It looks different for sure. It might grow on me. I won't say I'll never get one. Nevers will bite you in the ass.

Have they said what the target market for this pistol is, competition, personal defense, etc? Looks like a really cool design and should be an ultra flat shooter with not only the low bore axis but the fairly heavy weight also, plus it being 9mm. I would love to run one a bit and see what it would do.

I bet if you check some of the 1911 forums the hard core traditional 1911 guys are probably making plans for a lynching, or will be once they catch wind of someone trying to improve on their beloved JMB design.
Improvements? What 1911 did they improve? JMB tried imporoving the 1911 with the Browning Hi power. JMB didn't like 45 so that's the reason for the 9mm HP. I can't understand why a 1911 guy (like myself) would get mad over a non 1911 gun. It's not a 1911 it's a Hudson h9.

I'm stabbing the first person that asks me to build a kydex light bearing holster for one of these. Just saying......

Stab with what exactly? Not sure whether I should be afraid or lube up.

Either way, be afraid......
Will you share your apple cider with me first?

I love the look of it. That being said, I'm not too sure how it will carry for everyday use. The weight and thickness put it up there.

I'm forced to carry something thicker and heavier every day so it's not a problem for some of us.

Actually if I dress left maybe this will finally balance the load so my back stops hurting.

Looks fairly innovative... I'd be willing to give it try if and when they get the price down, which would probably happen with some success. New ideas can be scary to some:

Two questions with that statement if in fact you are using a knife for stabbing purposes.

1) Will you stab said person with a knife you made?
2) Will said stabie be able to keep said knife?

If yes to both I may have to break out th credit card or clean Chad's basement for some extra cash.

Looks like a very interesting pistol, with a lot of well thought out engineering behind it. I really do want one, but I don't know if I want enough to drop $1000+ on it.

We were going to post the video online. But fetlife changed their terms of service and you can no longer post bloodplay images.

they did shoot it. watch to the end

There was a good interview with the owners on Gunfighter cast

Damn i watched it while i was doing the morning do. I missed that part. Very cool.

Nice. Looks even better than the still shots.

I can't wait for them to hit the market. I'm more of a classic gun guy, so it is very rare that something "tactical" really strikes my fancy. This gun does.

I'm interested. Considering I paid kinda close to that for my EDC HK, the MSRP doesn't really bother me since the street price will likely be a bit lower. It would certainly have to be HK quality and reliability for me to buy one though.

For those that don't lknow him, that was our very own Frmr0317 on the left in that video.

Most of us aren't used to seeing him with his clothes on.

I would not carry that. It would be strictly a range gun if I bought it. Maybe if they release a version without a safety.
Got an ambidextrous house so my preference definitely leans toward those which anyone in my home scan shoot without changing things around on it.
The size of that is sure to scare the crap out of a home intruder.

Would you carry a Glock?
