I just sold a member a Fostech trigger. Maybe I should have kept it?

Incrementalism, the leftists MO
I am very pessimistic about the future, good thing I only have a musket but I am not sure that is safe with the leftists taking over.

No doubt the Trumpa Loompas here will argue something along the lines that we "have to give them bumps stocks to take the heat off and save our guns," but this is all it sounds like to those of us who are in the unfortunate position of being right....

Folks who realize their rights neither originate from nor are granted by government...free folks...are unaffected by "we gotta do something" political whims.

Don't like the RTKBA? Don't care for AR platform weapons? That's fine; you don't have to exercise the right and if you do, you don't have to own an AR. Like the song says, "You can go your own way", but...

You sure as hell don't get to decide which way I go....that's for me and only me to decide.

The preservation of liberty is up to us, because it's for damn sure we cannot depend upon the elected to see to it.

Free people do not beg or ask...

Free people just "do".

Whew...I think I just felt it move.

They gonna ban 16-penny nails and wood, too?

Cause I can make a semi-automatic gun fire several hundred rounds a minute with those two items.

I think this one is gonna be different, to many pro gun people to willing to give in this time...

There may be many "pro-gun" folks that give in and give up their liberty, but there's a contingent that won't.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has signed a memo directing the Justice Department to propose regulations to "ban all devices" like the rapid-fire bump stocks involved in last year's Las Vegas massacre.

The gun control crowd is shouting with joy. But what exactly did Trump do? He told the Justice Department to propose regulations. Since regulations have to be based on laws, the Justice Department will have to find a law that would allow bump stocks and the like to be banned. Good luck with that. And by the time the Justice Department reports back to Trump that they can't find a law to ban bump stocks, the current gun control eruption will have blown over.

If you want to be doubly critical of Trump, he also encouraged Congress to pass the NICS Fix bill. The bill would encourage states and federal agencies to do better in making reports to NICS. Not only does that bill have large bipartisan support (35 co-sponsors), but it is supported by the NRA. Honestly, there is probably no way in the world that Democrats would vote for the bill now that Trump has endorsed it, but Trump has put them in the position of calling for gun control legislation and then running away from an offer by the Republicans.

Maybe I should be upset with Trump for talking up stuff that he knows will not happen, but I can't be too upset with him for apparently out-maneuvering the Democrats.

Thanks Trump...
You've jumped on the brainless "We gotta do something!" bandwagon. A bumpstock hasn't even been used in one of these damned shootings.
ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS MORONS!!

It's not a move against gun owners, its a move against a crap accessory.

It's another nail in the coffin of liberty's what it is....just one more move against free folks.

Yeah...I personally don't own a bumpstock or have a use for them, but folks should be able to own one if they wish.

People on fox, going on about how the AR-15 shouldnt be allowed to be owned by citizens... Truly ignorant people... AK's, Mini's., FAL's... plenty of mag fed semi auto rifles. BUT THE AR IS THE EVIL ONE

I've noticed that this time around, I hear more of "AR-15" and less of "assault rifle". Maybe they had focus groups and determined that "AR-15" had more impact? Or maybe because Las Vegas, the Texas church, and this one were all AR-15? (But what about the "good" AR-15 that stopped the shooting in Texas?)

The gun control crowd is always trying new tactics.

After Newtown, the tactic was to orchestrate bereaved parents to call for gun control.

After the Florida school shooting, they moved to rallying students to push for gun control.

Wording of his memo:

MEMORANDUM FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

SUBJECT:

Application of the Definition of Machinegun to "Bump Fire" Stocks and Other Similar Devices

After the deadly mass murder in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 1, 2017, I asked my Administration to fully review how the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearmsand Explosives regulates bump fire stocks and similar devices.

Although the Obama Administration repeatedly concluded that particular bump stock type devices were lawful to purchase and possess, I sought further clarification of the law restricting fully automatic machineguns.

Accordingly, following established legal protocols, the Department of Justice started the process of promulgating a Federal regulation interpreting the definition of "machinegun" under Federal law to clarify whether certain bump stock type devices should be illegal. The Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on December 26, 2017. Public comment concluded on January 25, 2018, with the Department of Justice receiving over 100,000 comments.

Today, I am directing the Department of Justice to dedicate all available resources to complete the review of the comments received, and, as expeditiously as possible, to propose for notice and comment a rule banning all devices that turn legal weapons into machineguns.

Although I desire swift and decisive action, I remain committed to the rule of law and to the procedures the law prescribes. Doing this the right way will ensure that the resulting regulation is workable and effective and leaves no loopholes for criminals to exploit. I would ask that you keep me regularly apprised of your progress.

You are authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the FederalRegister.

DONALD J. TRUMP

Criminals are all about some loopholes.....

I feel the bump stock ban is inevitable, but let's make the language VERY specific and get something out of it like NFA and/or national CHP, reverse ban on importing non-sporting firearms, reverse 922r, etc.

I believe it's time that we, free citizens, start demanding a rollback of pretty much every gun law on the books, as they are all unconstitutional.
ok, start demanding.

It'll take the lawmakers to do so, and if they know they got us by the short and curlys then they'll take their sweet time...IF they ever did anything.

Oh...I'm under no illusion it'll change anything, but it lets the elected know exactly where we stand...how we define liberty and what we, as free citizens, expect.

Does it matter? In the long run, I believe it does. If we are willing to give up X and make it a sacrificial lamb just so we can obtain Y, it sets a precedent....a dangerous precedent, because they know we are willing to trade off a little liberty here for the illusion of "more" liberty over there. That never works and we end up getting screwed.

No, they need to know we believe the RTKBA is a right without restriction, regulation or prohibition.

So, when they come for an accessory you like, it will be okay with you since, after all, to someone who doesn't own one it's just a "crap accessory" right?

Terry

Of course! It's like how gun owners who primarily hunt with their traditional guns would be apoplectic if the antis came after the hunting guns first, but they're OK as long as it's just high-capacity mags up for extinction. Same principle; as long as my personal preferences aren't threatened, everybody else can take the hit in order to placate the antis.

ETA: I've got immediate family that thinks in that manner, I find it to be a shameful embarrassment indicative of a horrendous lack of foresight and perspective.

The Constitution declares that all legislative power belongs to Congress, then lists those subjects they have authority over, then declares all other powers belong to the states or the people. Those enumerated powers do not include delegating legislative power to any other entity. But they do it all the time. They've passed a law that says any rule promulgated by any agency that is published in the Federal Register is the law of the land unless Congress overrides the rule within a certain period of time, I think 90 days.

Voiala. As one of Bill Clinton's bumkissing sycophants once said admiringly, "Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Pretty cool."

It's not a move against gun owners, its a move against a crap accessory.

Wrong answer. Gun control is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS about control of the PEOPLE, not the product.

In the real world, the MARKET is about control of "crap accessory" products.

Gun control is, always has been, and always will be about people control.
